Title: Precious Grace, Precious Gift
John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, had a dream one day. I asked the angel how many Methodists had come to heaven, and there was none. Not a single Presbyterian, not even a Baptist. Wesley cried out to the angel in disappointment. Then the angel quietly said, "There are no Presbyterian churches or Methodist churches in heaven. Heaven is where the saints who have received the precious grace of believing in Jesus come. it is believed
1. The precious grace of salvation through faith
The Reformers emphasized only grace (Sola Gratia) and only faith (Sola fide). Salvation by faith is a common truth of the Bible. Habakkuk (Habakkuk 2:40) realized the truth of salvation: “The righteous shall live by faith.” (John 3:16) Anyone who believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life. Therefore, salvation is neither obtained through the practice of the law nor through meditation. It is only through realizing that you are a sinner before God and realizing the love and grace of the Savior Jesus.
Today's Word, "We have been saved" in Ephesians 2:8 means that we have become a saved people in Jesus. It means to keep the salvation you have received. Theologian "Eddie" described salvation this way: "A man was waiting to die in a ship wrecked by a storm. But a rescue boat came and got into the ship. It was still a long way to land. But he has already risen from the dead. But in order to go all the way to land, you have to stay in the ship. We have already been saved, but if we live on Jesus until the end, we will achieve complete salvation in the end.
① When we receive precious grace, God's words come to our ears. (Genesis 6:8) Noah heard a voice saying that God, who sighs, judges with water. Noah received Jehovah's favor and prepared the ark in advance, so he was saved from the water judgment. ②If we hear the word of grace, we will have faith to be saved. (Mark 10:46-52) (Romans 10:9,17) Therefore, faith comes from hearing, and hearing comes through the word of Christ. ③God gives us grace He is the one who gives. (Exodus 33:19)
2. The precious gift of salvation obtained for free
Salvation (Ephesians 2:8) is a gift from God. The American poet "Esward Longfellow" said, "The greatest virtue of a gift is that it neither waits nor grants a return." The German poet "Pinder" said, "Even if a small gift is given with love, the gift is practically "It's a big thing" "Anui" said, "I got it for free, but the giver said that it was a gift that paid a high price. However, when you receive a certain gift, it feels very good, because you have received what you absolutely need as a gift. This is a precious grace. Saints, God has given us the gift of salvation that we desperately need. Jesus died on the cross without sin. If you realize the great love and worship, you have received valuable grace.
"Barth" said, "I received it for free, but God paid a great price for the grace of the cross." "Uchimura Kanzoo", a famous Japanese biblical scholar, said: The Bible says that unbelief is a curse. But on Sundays, I want to worship and pray before God. When you hear the Bible, you believe. I think it is a word I must hear. This is a precious grace.
Saints! Have you received the precious grace of salvation as a gift? I am grateful to God because I have received the precious gift of grace. It is fun to go to church and worship. I pray that this year will also be a blessed year of victory through saved faith.
