Ephesians 4:17-32
These days, there are many changes in nature at the crossroads of spring and summer. The temperature is getting higher, the forsythia and azaleas are in full bloom, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the greenery of the roadside trees and mountains is getting thicker. The change of nature from season to season is solemnly accurate. We humans also know that there must be a process of change in which we close our collars before the solemn providence of God.
Verse 22 says, “Put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness, truth, holiness.” There must be a change that is corrected for what is wrong, there must be a new growth, there must be a change that is made holy. The saints must receive holy changes as they are saints. And I hope that you will become a perfect saint who is recognized before God.
1) There must be a change to correct the wrong thing immediately.
Some of the sins mentioned in today's text are as follows.
In verse 25 it says, "Put away lies and speak the truth with your neighbor." All hypocrisy comes from lies. People lie a lot. We need to put off our lies and live a life of truth and truth.
In verse 26 it says, "Be angry and do not sin; do not cherish your anger long until the sun goes down, and do not allow the devil to take advantage of you." We often live in anger. But it is a crime according to the Word of God. Cain couldn't contain his anger and killed Abel. Moses' anger at Kadesh-barne was the motive for not allowing Moses to enter the land of Canaan. If the anger lasts for a long time, the devil will join in. The devil becomes a criminal, a destroyer, and the father of destruction. When the devil joins in, great crimes and accidents are committed. Humans can have emotions. There may be anger. Don't last long, you have to let go. You must not commit a crime. That is the attitude of a believer.
Verse 29 says, "Let no unclean words come out of your mouth." What are dirty words? Lying, cursing, cursing, slander, speaking with malice. should be avoided. Cursing is also harmful to yourself. Say good words that are necessary for edification, and give grace to those who hear.
Verse 31 says, “Let all vice and wrath and wrath and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” Talking and swearing should be avoided. No one is good. It is of no help to you. It's bad for you, more bad for me, and bad for everyone.
These days, even 'goyans' in the world who do evil things rationalize their mistakes. We rationalize our individuality, our liberal world, and our human rights, so we don't reflect on it or blame it.
How can a human being be perfect? There are mistakes, mistakes, and crimes. The important thing is to have a change that repents and heals. We need to be healed and transformed by the Word of God and the grace of God. However, there are great obstacles to human repentance, healing, and change.
One is greed. As long as a person does not give up greed and has excessive greed, there is no repentance and no change of heart can be expected. First you have to let go of greed.
Another is pride. A proud person cannot expect repentance, correction, or change. We must be humble before God. You must let go of pride. There are also changes and corrections to the humble.
We need to repent of what we have done wrong, correct it, and make good changes. That is the life of faith and the life of grace.
2) Believers must have changes that grow and mature. Believers must always have changes to grow and mature. 1 Timothy 4:15 says, “Therefore, with all your heart and with all your might, make your progress visible to all of you.” Matthew 13 contains the parable of the sons of heaven. According to Matthew 13:1 and below, the seed that fell on good soil will bear fruit 30, 60, 100 times. Verse 31 tells the parable of the mustard seed. A small mustard seed grows into a large tree and a nest of birds. Changes in Growth Living things need changes in growth. 1 Corinthians 13:11 says, “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I understood like a child, I thought like a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things. You must become a mature and mature believer.
These days, I'm continuing to vent. You can see, hear, and feel many things while visiting. It has been 24 years since I came to this church. Children and teenagers running around in the church hallways soon got married, became heads of households, ladies, fathers, and mothers. In the church, I am a teacher, a deacon, a choir, and live a life of faith. I was able to see many young people who had faith and worked harder than their parents. He was proud and reassuring on the inside. Believers must have a change of growth.
In Revelation 3:15, there is a rebuke of the Laodicean saints. I want you whether you are cold or hot. You are neither cold nor hot, and you are lukewarm, and I will vomit out of my mouth. It is said that if there is no change, it is thrown away. There is a parable of the talents in Matthew 25. He said to the servant who had the one talent he had received, he was an evil and lazy servant. I was told to take what I had. It was dark outside and I told him to throw me out. As believers, we need to grow up and mature in good faith in our personal service. This is the will of God that God desires.
In God's grace and word, wrong hearts, characters, and lives must be corrected and changed to become holy saints and people. As believers in God, Christians, saints, and those of us who have been saved, there must be a change that corrects what is wrong and sinful. There must be a change that grows. There must be a change of sanctification becoming sanctification. I pray for healing, growth, and sanctification through the word of the living God and spiritual grace.
