Ephesians 5:1-14
Darkness deceives people, drives them into fear, confuses them, and turns everything upside down. The Bible refers to this world as a world ruled by darkness. The world is dark because it is an ignorant world that does not know God. However, God is speaking to us as children of light. Living like Jesus is the same as saying to live like children of light. Then, how should we live as children of light?
1. Children of light refer to those who imitate God.
If you ask us to imitate Jesus who came in a human body, we will be able to imitate it to some extent. But the Bible tells us to imitate God. There are two attributes of God, those that can be transmitted and those that are not. Attributes that cannot be conveyed are things that are impossible even to imitate as a human being, such as omnipotence and eternity. On the other hand, loving, comforting, and forgiving are qualities of God that can be imitated. As God has forgiven me, we should learn to forgive ourselves as well as our neighbors. And God gave priority to the love to give over the love to receive. In the Bible, it is said that the giver is more blessed than the receiver. So we should practice giving love. Above all else, we must practice living love. We don't just say we love with our lips, we express our love through our actions. In this way, children of light who imitate God are children who forgive and give love and, above all, practice living love.
2. Children of light refer to those who have been born again
The two natures of the old man and the new man fight within us every day. The old man refers to a person who speaks fornication, unclean thoughts, idolatry, and foolish speech. But new people. In other words, a person who has been born again seems to be 'a person who speaks words of thanks' in a word. The old people complain, complain, argue, compete, and fall into pain, but the new people always say thank you. In the midst of suffering, the new person speaks of gratitude. For it is God who knocks down and it is God who gives pain. Above all, we can be thankful because we think that suffering is God's will to bring us closer to God. ·
3. Children of light are equal to those who shed light on a dark world
Everyone has a mission assigned to them. We too will have a mission God has given us. It will be most important for us to realize that mission. But that mission is to walk as children of light in the Lord. It is to shine a light in this dark world. I will have to examine myself to see if I am really shining a light in my family and whether I have fulfilled my mission of light to my neighbors and people.
I will conclude
As a saint, as a child of light, in order to please God before God, we must imitate the life of God. By practicing forgiveness, giving, and living love, eventually achieve love that bears fruit, and by being born again as a new person, say thank you. I hope you can become
