Ephesians 5-15) Wisdom over time
It is said that Jonathan Edwards, a great believer born in America, established the 7 principles of life for himself in order to live as a true Christian.
1. At the end of my life, I will never do things that I must fear.
2. I will utterly reject anything that doubts God's love, even if it is small. 3. Even if I fail, I will never give up the fight against the things that corrupt me.
4. No matter what kind of pain, I will do my best to gain the benefits of faith through that pain.
5. I will become a person who knows how to be angry with God for things that are not right before God.
6. I will never speak words that do not benefit others and harm others in any way.
7. I will do my best in what I have to do before God.
God's children should do their best in the use of their time. A Christian should always be resolute in the use and management of his time. Time is the most important life gift that God has equally given to all human beings. Therefore, Christians, unlike the world, should do their best to manage and use their time well.
1. Reasons to save time
Paul says: Why? Need to save time?
1> Because humans cannot create time.
In verse 15 Paul said, “Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise.” In these words, Paul wants us to be wise first. It is to become a wise man who realizes what time is, not other wise men. It is to become a wise person who knows well what they are. Because without the wisdom of knowing the nature of time, you cannot save time. So what is ? Its most important property is that time cannot be created or controlled by human hands. Time is a gift from God to man, not a man-made product. Therefore, human beings cannot control time by any means.
Athletes have time to work. However, there is no operational time in the time of our lives. If you buy something and don't like it, you can return it or exchange it for something else. But once the time of life goes, there is no way to get it back. The speed of the car can be adjusted. But the speed of the flow of life is beyond our ability. As the saying goes, our time, once gone, cannot be turned back twice. Time is not in human hands. So, you have to save time.
2> Because the times are evil.
Paul himself gives the second reason to save time. "Save the time, for the times are evil." means to Even in Paul's day, most of the world was a world separated from God. Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, Satan was holding the power of this earth, so all times are bound to be evil. The modern form eats and drinks just like in the days of Noah. They are getting married, marrying, and chasing after the fun and pleasures of the world. If we do not spare time, that is, if we do not discriminate and bind time, then all of us are easily stained by the evil world in our evil years. So, you should save time.
3> Time comes only once, because it goes by so quickly.
2. Meaning of saving time
Now we need to understand the meaning of the word “save time”.
1> It means to discern time.
2> It means not to miss an opportunity.
3> It means to spend your time pleasing God.
closing words
The alarm clock at the bedside of my bed can be rewound as many times as needed. However, the mainspring of time given to life cannot be rewound twice. The time of our lives has already been wound up and continues to unravel. And it might stop when it's all over. Therefore, God's people should save time. You must prioritize your time and do your best to manage it. Now we must not waste our time on futile and useless things.
