honor your parents
Bible: Ephesians 6:1-3
There is a difference between humans and animals. Animals love their young very dearly. Even when they eat, they eat what they ate until they vomit again. I love you like this, but once you grow up you stay away Babies also follow their mothers well, but when they grow up, they do not know their mothers. They don't pay tribute to their parents. Sometimes the old beast is abandoned. It's not even looking back. It is the animal world that does not take care of dying mothers.
But humans can never do that. It is the human world to love to the end and to be loved to the end. A man with a hat is like an animal. If he loves only his youngest children and neglects his old parents, then this person is like an animal. Those who neglect their parents do the same to their children. Because when they grow old they are despised by their children, because what they have learned from their parents has taught them to despise the elderly. This is, in a word, a human being on an animal level. People should show filial piety to their parents.
Then why should we be filial to our mother?
Because God has commanded it.
Verse 1 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord” and verse 2 “Honor your father and mother” is a command from God. Filial piety is not something you can do or not do, but if you are human, especially if you believe in God, you must do it. Naturally, it is the duty of a human being, so if we do not do it, great responsibility and punishment will be inflicted.
That's why Proverbs 30:17 says, "The eyes of those who mock their fathers and do not want to obey their mothers will be pecked by ravens of the valley, and the young eagles will eat them." It is not only human nature that we should be filial to our parents, but above all, it is God's command.
God has given us the Ten Commandments. Commandments 1 through 4 are about God. The 5th through 10th commandments are about man. Filial piety is the first commandment concerning mankind. This precedes the commandment to others, or neighbors. "I'm not good to my parents, but I'm good to my wife, husband, children and neighbors." This is not correct. No matter how good you are to others, it is useless if you are not good to your parents. The moral of human beings is to serve the parents first.
Since honoring our parents is God's command and the highest commandment given to humans, we must honor our parents first. I hope that you will repent of what you have not done so far and become the saints who honor your parents even more diligently than ever before.
So, what should filial piety do?
1. You must acknowledge the authority of your parents.
“As a parent, what have you done to your children?” Do you have any children who swear by you? So it shouldn't be. Parents have enough authority to receive filial piety just because they are my parents. Not only that, the grace that my parents gave me is unprecedented in the world. You gave me life. My existence began through my parents. No one in the world could have followed my parents, no matter how much they loved me. Filial piety begins with acknowledging the authority of the parents.
2. Filial piety is obedience;
If children truly acknowledge their parents' authority, they are obliged to obey them.
Parents are the most supreme adults in the world for us as children, and they are the ones with the highest authority in humanity. What, then, is obedience to parents in the true sense of the word?
Thinking of your parents first and living centered on your parents.
To do that, you must give your parents physical satisfaction.
By providing physical comfort, you should also provide abundant pocket money, and provide good food, good clothes, and a good environment.
You also need to be happy mentally.
It is a filial piety that always puts you at ease, even if you are not financially rich. People value filial piety that brings joy mentally rather than filial piety, which is physical and material filial piety.
Moreover, the saints are to be honored in the faith.
Verse 1 says, “Obey in the Lord.”
It means to obey your parents, but to obey in the way of faith.
That is, it is not to let the life of the parents end with the life of this world, but to lead them to God so that they can live forever in the kingdom of God. Therefore, filial piety is to lead parents to God and help them lead a peaceful life of faith.
I hope that you will bring joy to your parents physically and mentally and do well in your faith.
What kind of blessing does God give if we do good filial piety like this?
He gives you material blessings and prosperity. He gives you the blessing of living long and healthy on the earth.
Filial filial piety is what children should do. However, when we fulfill our responsibilities, God promises us material blessings and the blessing of long and healthy life. I bless you in the name of Jesus to enjoy this blessing
