Title Ephesians 06:1-3 Honoring Parents
Contents
respect parents
Ephesians 6:1 3, Exodus 20:12
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth (Ephesians 6:1-3).
Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you (Exodus 20-12).
Parents give birth to, raise them, and always love, care, and worry about their children, and they wish for the best of their children. Parents are the ones who want their children to be angry and their children to be happy. It is the heart of parents to stay up all night worrying about their children. Parents are the ones who laugh and rejoice when their children eat and wear well, even if they cannot eat and wear clothes.
There is a saying among our ancestors that it is a human Goryeojang. A son goes to the mountain with his mother in a cage to make her mother goryeojang. My mother would break the pine needles and throw them on the road. the son asks. When I asked why, my mother said, "When you come back, you are afraid that you won't find your way, so you pick pine needles and sprinkle them on the road, so you can see them and find your way." It means that parents are concerned about their son who is trying to make him go into Korea.
As we think about how we should live by serving these parents, I hope that we will be of grace to each other.
Proverbs 30:17. “The eyes of those who mock their fathers and do not want to obey their mothers will be pecked by ravens of the valley and eaten by eagles,” God warns children.
1. Respect for parents is the basis of morality.
You cannot succeed anywhere without respect for your parents. Filial piety starts from the 5th of the 10 commandments from a Christian standpoint.
If you look up "respect" in the dictionary, it means "to serve with respect." If you think about a few things by connecting the words respect and filial piety,
First, to honor your parents means that the family is united as a social concept.
Second, it means the responsibility of the child to the parent. It means taking care of your elderly parents and making them feel comfortable.
Third, you will serve well while you are alive, so after you die, any method is meaningless.
Fourth, even if we filially and obey our parents, we must give priority to obeying God.
The above four things can be said to be the essence of ethical filial piety in the Bible.
The first of the commandments given to man is, "Honor your father and mother, that you may live long in the land that your God is giving you."
2. Filial piety is the basis of the order of human life.
When children obey their parents and the family submits to the country, the country grows in order.
Romans 13:1 3. "Let each one be subject to the superior authorities. There is no authority but from God, and all authority is ordained of God. So those who resist authority will bring their own judgment. Rulers are not afraid of good works. And against evil things, do you not fear authority? Do good, and you will receive his praise."
Johann Wesley's mother, Susanna, raised many children, and from the age of two, she broke her stubbornness and raised her to obey her parents. He said that if we do not grow up like this, we will not be able to obey God even when we grow up. Indeed, he raised great men such as Charles Wesley and John Wesley, great servants of God.
3. Filial piety is God's commandment.
Exodus 21:15-17. "Anyone who strikes against his father or mother must be put to death. A person who harms a person must be put to death, whether he has sold him or placed him under his control. Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death."
Deuteronomy 21:20-21. "If we say to the elders of the city, 'This son of ours is hard-headed and rebellious, and does not obey our words, he is a licentious, drunken man,' let him be stoned to death."
Filial piety is the secret to being blessed. Filial piety is the secret of evangelism. Filial piety is filial due to the great grace of parents, but those who are filial receive God's great blessings.
Ephesians 6:2 3. “Honor your father and mother, for this is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and that you may live long on the earth.”
Exodus 20:12. “Honor your father and mother, so that your life may be long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Filial piety is the duty of the saints. A family without filial piety has no love for the country, and considering the grace that gave birth to them, the grace that brought them up, and the grace that they taught them, it can't help but be in despair.
It is said that filial piety even for non-believers is the baekhaeng jibon, and the welfare center for all.
Those who honor their parents according to the word of God
① The blessing of longevity (Exodus 20:12)
② The blessing of prosperity in all things (Ephesians 6:3, Proverbs 3:2)
③ Gain wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 4:5)
④ You will enjoy the blessings of wealth and glory (Proverbs 1:9).
Even in serving one's parents, God has granted them the blessing of long life and prosperity, so in order to receive the blessing, you must practice filial piety. If you serve God well, you will receive greater blessings.
4. How should we honor our parents?
1) We must know and obey the words of our parents next to the words of God.
2) While you are alive, you must provide for yourself with material. You should not be mistaken for filial piety if your parents are disobedient while they are still alive, and if you hold a ceremonial or large ceremony after their death.
3) You need to put your mind at ease. The mind should be more comfortable than the body.
4) You must obey your parents.
5) You must take them to heaven.
The greatest filial piety is for parents to serve and serve God well, and the greatest filial piety is to prevent them from believing in the Savior who is life.
Here are eight ways to be filial to filial piety.
1) The body is what you received from your parents, so you should not hurt yourself as a child.
2) To glorify the names of parents and not to profane them.
3) It is not hating or despising others.
4) Serving and loving others.
5) To have a benevolent heart and a respectful heart.
6) Respect your parents.
7) Raise your parents so that they are happy, pay attention to your health, and offer sacrifices with a sad heart after you die.
8) Even my parents told me not to obey about injustice.
Some parents don't even know how to be filial, they just complain. Can young people of today follow the 7 or 80-year-old generation? Even if your thoughts don't match, you have to live with them. You have to live with understanding. It is a fact that one day I will become such a generation and receive such treatment. According to the bible, you are treated according to your deeds.
