Title Excuse me! bad habit

Contents

Text: Luke 14:16-24

Excuses are a bad habit to break. In our words, “There is no grave without excuses” and “Even if a virgin has a child, there is something to say.” Excuses are not good. It's as bad a habit as lying. Bad habits must be abandoned. However, we also have a bad habit of blaming others for something and making excuses.

Regarding the origin of excuses, the Bible finds Adam and Eve in Genesis 3.

Adam said, “God! Wrong. Forgive me,” but he makes excuses. “The woman whom God gave to be with me, and she gave and ate.” In these words, “God, when did I comfort a woman? It has the meaning of “I lived with the wind that God gave me.” How mean are you? The object of love has become the object of hate. When Adam makes excuses, God asks Eve. “Why did you eat?” “The snake told me to eat,” and Eve makes an excuse. Does a man shamefully give an excuse to the beast? That moment is the moment you reach the level of the beast.

In Genesis 3:1, “the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that God had made.” Heb) ‘Arum’ means cunning, prudence, and nakedness. Calvin is a beast with agility, self-preservation, and activity, as it praises nature rather than cunning as a defect. From this point of view, snakes at that time were pretty, agile, and wise beasts, and among wild animals, it can be seen that they belonged to the most attractive class for women to approach.

Even today, women like pretty things, good-looking things, and beautiful things too, and should be careful about getting distracted.

It is important to do your best in any harsh environment, so it is more important to make an effort than to make excuses, and to do your best rather than to blame others and make excuses.

Especially teenagers, don't be the one who makes excuses or blames parents and siblings. that's ugly A person who can take responsibility for his or her life, a person who can admit mistakes, such a person can change their life successfully.

In today's text, Jesus uses the parable of the feast and tells three things about the people invited to the feast do not come with excuses.

Verse 16 A certain man made a great banquet and invited many people.

“Some people” refers to God who has a plan for the salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ, “great banquet” refers to the feast of salvation, and “many people” who are invited refer to the Jews. “Specifying all in agreement … ” implies that there was some kind of silent precept. This is an expression of the common denominator of the Jews who did not accept the gospel of Christ at that time, and it compares the situation in which they consistently give excuses.

First excuse: I bought a field, so I must go out and see …

It doesn't mean that you have to go to visit the field in a hurry before signing a contract to buy the field, but it means that you want to visit the field you have already bought again.

Excuse #2: I bought five yoke of oxen, so I can't go to the test.

Since the gyre means a pair of two cows, a cow is bought 10. If he buys 10 cows and farms them, he is very rich. It's not actually a new cow, but a live cow, so you can go to the invitation and test the cow, but this is not an important issue enough to refuse the big feast. This can be seen as a parable aimed at the wealthy among the Jews at the time, who made excuses for not listening to the Gospel because they had money and had nothing to regret because they were rich. It's the same today, too. They're arrogant because they're busy with worldly things, so they put their minds to the world rather than heaven, invest in the body rather than the soul, and spend all their time on worldly affairs rather than the Lord's invitation.

Excuse me #3: I'm married … I can't go

Marriage is a big deal, so it might make sense if you're at a wedding. But I'm married, which means I'm a married man, and that's an excuse for going with my wife.

Verse 21 The master, disillusioned with the Jews who do not come for this or that excuse, commands his servants to bring anyone. This means that not only Jews but also Gentiles can be invited by the Lord. Even if you invite and fill the seats, there are still seats left. Later, the owner's command to force him to fill is issued. This is also evangelism. This is your last chance. It is a tragedy if you refuse with an excuse even though you have been coerced.

Verse 24, “You shall not taste my feast.”

This means that you will go to hell because you cannot taste the heavenly feast.

Revelation 2
