Exodus 2:23-25 Prayer for Salvation Topic: 11. Salvation. 2007. 3. 4.

Introduction: God's response to Israel's suffering and their cry

Between verses 22 and 23, that is, after Moses fled to Midian, until God answered his people.

About 40 years have passed.

1. Israel's suffering and lamentation (23)

2. God's response (24~25)

1. Israel's suffering and lamentation (23)

“The king is dead” Moses could now return to Egypt legally and politically free.

1) The children of Israel groaned and cried out because of their torment.

① Must do labor for Egypt

② ruthlessly oppressed and forced to work non-stop

③ Under the plan to suppress population growth, they were treated unfairly and gradually died after receiving all kinds of expansion.

Many Israelites abandoned God and began to worship Egyptian idols.

* They became more interested in worldly things than God's promises.

* Many have become worldly after the flesh.

2) God worked sovereignly.

It was God's way to awaken the people who had forsaken God by making the people suffer.

That suffering was part of God's discipline and judgment. (Ezekiel 20:7-8)

Pain and suffering awakened the people. They desperately cried out to the living God. Their cry reached heaven and reached God.

2. God's response (24~25)

God's response to the cry of the people

One). God hears their cry. (24)

God heard the people's groans and groanings and the people's supplications who always sincerely sought help.

2). God remembers His covenant. (24)

He remembered the covenant he made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

① Seed of Promise: I will make a great nation. There was a promise for posterity. (Genesis 12:2~3, Exodus 1:6-7)

② One seed: He promised to send the children of Israel as the Savior of the world. (Genesis 12:3, Exodus 1:6-7)

③ Promised Land: The Promised Land refers to both the land of Canaan and the land of heaven. (Genesis 12:1, Exodus 2:24)

The point: The people were converted and turned to God. The promised land, the covenant God made,

He actively considered the promise of the seed of promise.

3). God counseled the people (25)

“Kwonryeom” refers to “① take care of it and ② think about it”.

① God looks down on the people (25)

* Looking down is that God has mercy on them.

② God cares about the people (25)

God knew all the pain and suffering of the people.

The point: The people repented with a broken heart.

They have learned that the way of those who deceived is rough (Proverbs 13:15).

Promised Land (Covenant made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob)

The land is just a promise. Abraham had to keep holding on to that promise.

One). The Promised Land refers to Palestine.

① God’s promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:6-7), 13:14-15, Genesis 17:8)

② The word of promise to Isaac (Gen. 26:3)

③ Promise to Jacob (Genesis 28:13, 35:12)

2). The Promised Land clearly refers to the eternal kingdom of heaven.

The land of Canaan is a symbol and model of heaven. It is a new heaven and a new earth.

① The Promised Land refers to the whole world. (Romans 4:13) - Only by faith

② It refers to the kingdom in heaven and the city in heaven.

* The inheritance that Abraham and the believers will receive is a heavenly home, the eternal kingdom of heaven. ordination in heaven.

3). The Promised Land meant a lot to Abraham.

① The Promised Land gives assurance of personal inheritance.

② The Promised Land gives assurance of spiritual victory and spiritual rest.

③ The party of promise gives confidence in God's presence (God's love, care, provision, and protection).

Abraham's promise (Genesis 17:8, 28:15)

“I will give to you and to your descendants the land in which you are sojourning, the whole of Canaan, for an everlasting inheritance, and I will be their God” (Genesis 17:8).

“I am with you, I will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land.

I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you” (Genesis 28:15).

The promise received by the believer (Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5)

“Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20)

“Do not love money, but be content with what you have, for he himself said, ‘I will not leave you, nor will I ever leave you’” (Hebrews 13:5).
