Title [Exodus 8:16-19] Pharaoh Against God

The Exodus event has two sides. For the people of Israel, it is an event of joy and excitement that they are set free from all shame and suffering, and at the same time, it is an event of terrible judgment and punishment for Pharaoh the king of Egypt and his people. By punishing Pharaoh and his people who resisted God, God is warning all ages and all human beings not to resist God. The Lord Himself appeared to Paul and reminded him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? When Saul heard these words, he repented and became Paul and became the most faithful servant of God for the Lord. Please realize that all actions that oppose God, whether directly or indirectly, are subject to God's judgment. Now, let's find important lessons from the plague that turned dust into lice, the third of the ten plagues that came upon Pharaoh who resisted God and his people, and let us introduce them and receive grace.

1. Moses performed these miracles in obedience to the word of God (16-17).

Turning dust into lice is the most difficult (impossible) of the ten plagues. The reason is that it is the work that makes life exist. This impossible task was made possible by Moses by obedience to the word of God. “They will do it” (17). God commanded Moses and Aaron to strike the dust of the ground with their staff (16), which means they did as they did. What they did was the proof that they had confidence in God, the word of God. The reason God's power does not appear in us is because of unbelief and disobedience. It is never because of a lack of God's power. Let's blame God and stop complaining or complaining. Rather, let us confess and repent that we are unable to glorify God through unbelief and disobedience.

2. The magicians admitted that their magic was impossible and testified that it was the power of God (18-19).

3. As God had said, Pharaoh was hardened and did not listen to the magicians (19).
