Sermons for Preaching

Title Exposition of the Book of Isaiah (2)

Contents

(Isa 1:10-17) “Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah, says the Lord, “of what profit is your countless sacrifices to me? I am filled with burnt offerings and with the fat of fattened animals, and I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls or lambs or goats. Incense is an abomination to me, as it is with new moons and sabbaths and gatherings at conventions. I cannot bear to do evil with holy assemblies. My heart hates your new moons and your appointed feasts. It is a burden to me, and I am weary to bear it. When you open your hands, I will cover your eyes, and you will pray a lot, but I will not hear you, for your hands are full of blood. Wash yourselves and purify yourselves, putting your evil deeds away from my sight learn justice, seek justice, help the oppressed, plead for the orphan, plead for the widow.”

1. Delivering the message to Israel through Isaiah in their worst period.

1) God warned Israel through numerous prophets and told them to turn away from evil.

(Matthew 23:37) “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how many times have I sought to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.”

- Sending them a prophet was God's love and concern for them.

* It is like a parent rebuking a child who is upset.

* God's discipline is not hearing the word of truth.

(Amos 8:12) “Behold, the days are coming, saith the Sovereign LORD, and I will send a famine upon the land, not a hunger for bread or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the word of the Lord.”

* Hearing the word of God, there is no emotion, no mourning, and no longing for the word.

* Loss of insight into the Word of God.

* Even if you read the Bible, you do not know the mysterious truth contained in the Bible.

* Loss of the power of the Holy Spirit for the Word of God.

* The Holy Spirit is a constant reminder and reminder in us, but we lose this.

- God continued to send prophets to them to bring them back.

* Just as God called Adam, He gave them a strong warning to repent.

2) This period was the period of the reign of King Ahaz, and it was the period of Israel's greatest idolatry and rebellion.

- Ahaz lost the Word of God and acknowledged and accepted other gods.

(2 Kings 16:1014) “King Ahaz went to Damascus to visit Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and when he saw the altar there, he drew up a structure and a pattern for the system and sent it to Uriah the priest. Before King Ahaz returned from Damascus, he sent Uriah the priest And he made the altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus. When the king returned from Damascus, and saw the altar, he went to the altar and offered sacrifices on it, and burned his burnt offerings and grain offerings, and poured out drink offerings, and sprinkled the blood of mercury sacrifices on the altar And they moved the bronze altar that was before the LORD, which was before the house, between the new altar and the house of the LORD, and placed it on the north side of the altar.”

* In God's eyes, how heartbreaking was their behavior.

* The words of my parents were not heard, and I served and followed other insignificant beings more than my parents.

* The holy things of God were moved to another temple and served next to the temple of the Lord.

- He became angry and rebuked the people who rebelled against God.

* They forsook God's law and, instead, did evil and offered sacrifices.

* Sacrifice to God to them has no meaning.

* Only sacrifices became their custom and were for themselves.

- The sacrifice before God was to become a holy people with repentance through the teachings of God.

* But they did evil and shamelessly offered meaningless sacrifices to God.

(Ezekiel 2:4) “These children are shameless in their faces and hard-hearted; I am sending you to them, saying to them, This is what the Sovereign LORD says.”

* The purpose of God's chosen people for them was their separate holy people.

2. How is our worship?

1) What kind of worship is pleasing to God?

(John 4:23-24) “The hour is coming, and now is, when those who truly worship the Father will worship the Father in spirit and truth. You shall worship.”

- Our worship is not a formality according to a set order, but a true confession of faith.

(Romans 12:1-2) “Therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

* True spiritual worship to God is a holy image through the appearance of our lives.

* If your life is not perfect for a week and you have disobeyed God, worship will only be biased toward formality.

* What is your daily life like?

* What is serving God?

* Is your life set apart from unbelievers?

* Do other people see you and say you are truly a Christian?
