Title Feel the reward (Luke 10:38-42)
Contents
Among the methods of treating cancer patients, there is a "reward therapy". It is a treatment method that activates immunity against cancer by making cancer patients feel rewarding. When this rewarding therapy is applied to cancer patients, it is said that the cancer cell mass becomes smaller and the cancer recurrence rate is lowered. For example, by having cancer patients go mountain climbing, volunteering, giving speeches or lectures, doing things that make others happy, or having them do things they want to do, their heart pounding and pounding. It is what makes the heart feel happy. When we feel rewarded in this way, the immune system against disease is activated in our body, and disease becomes smaller or cured, and the recurrence rate of disease is also lowered. When you feel rewarded in your mind, your body will follow suit.
Two women appear in today's text. They are Martha and Mary. Among these two, a woman named Martha was the one who received Jesus into her home after she knew that Jesus had come into her village while on the road. Look at verse 38. “As they were going on the road, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.” The woman who accepted Jesus was Martha, and the woman who worked hard was also Martha. Verse 40 says, “Martha was busy with many preparations.” I was welcomed and I was busy working.
But who received the praise? Maria got it. Who monopolized Jesus? It was Maria. What could have made such a difference? Martha was busy with a lot of things, but it seems that she didn't find it rewarding. The reason can be seen from the fact that there were many complaints about his work. I couldn't help but complain because I didn't feel any satisfaction. If Martha had found what she was doing now rewarding, she would have been more happy that she could do it alone and would have been content that she could do more. But Martha complained that I was the only one doing this. It was dissatisfying that I worked harder and suffered more.
Look at the middle of verse 40. "He came to Jesus and said, "Lord, do you not think that my brother leaves me to work alone? Command him to help me." He has received Jesus into his home, and he has chosen for himself, and he is busy working on himself to serve Jesus, but there are many complaints like this.
The Lord said to Martha in verses 41-42, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled over many things, but a few things or one thing is enough. Mary has chosen the good part, and it will not be taken from her.”
Mary did only one thing, but instead of complaining, she grabbed it so that it would not be taken away from her. Because I felt great pride and reward for it. Only when you feel rewarded can you produce results that are worthy of praise.
Saints! Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy it. Even if it is something you have to do and have to do anyway, if you feel rewarded about doing it, it will become a little easier. And if you are exhausted and sick right now, I hope you find something worthwhile and try to do it. I promise, obviously, there will be good results.
