Title Foolish Life/Jeremiah 51:15-19
content foolish life
Text: Jeremiah 51: 15 - 19
It is said that a mother gave this advice to her son, feeling sorry for her son who did not prepare for life in old age. “Son, shouldn’t you be preparing for old age too?” The son replied to his mother. "Don't worry, my son will make a lot of money and take good care of me," my mother answered at that time. "Son, when I was your age, I thought that too, but when I come today, I see that my son doesn't take care of me." That's what he does to his parents and shows that he doesn't care about what he does to his son. Life is lived with expectations of someone. However, life often disappoints when it does not meet those expectations. It depends on life, but the reality is often different. That is why the world is full of wounds and conflicts. The representation of the powers of the world in the Bible is compared to the kingdom of Babylon.
It's a life where you try to be envied and you get shamed.
They want to have it forever, but they are forever gone.
The day will come when you will know that idols are vain and have no life. “They are vanity, they are made in a vain, and they will perish at the time of punishment” (verse 18). Babylon believed in its own mighty power, mocked God, and destroyed God's people and God's temple, but ultimately, in less than 50 years, it was destroyed by the Persian kingdom. Solomon, who enjoyed everything, was arranging his life and talking about the futility of life was the vainness of life without God. The theme of Ecclesiastes is to speak of the vanity of worldly values. In other words, anything with God is worthwhile. "Now that you have heard of the end of things, fear God and keep his commandments, for this is man's duty" (Ecclesiastes 12:13). It refers to experiencing the power of God when using it as a tool. This is the life of a wise believer.
I'm not saying don't try what you're doing. The real value of what you are doing is to work for it while thinking about the glory of God. As we examine whether today's life glorifies God and adjust our lives for that glory, we will experience God's power, wisdom, and love, and it will be a beautiful life in which we can enjoy true joy and peace. As I congratulate the young people graduating today, I have one request for you: to put the value of all standards of life on God. This will be a beautiful life that glorifies God and pleases him.
