Title From Gethsemane/Matthew 26:43-46
The time of my life before the content If there were only twelve hours left in your life, how would you use that time? Jesus now has 12 hours left. It seems that God doesn't tell ordinary people the time of death in advance. Because if you know ahead of time, people will surely spend the last hour in panic, panic, and fear. If you know the time to leave this earth in advance and you can pray and wait for that time, I wonder if God will be relieved and will inform you of the time.
Jesus prayed. He prayed until the moment he was arrested. However, when he went to Gethsemane to ponder, his psychological state was actually very unstable.
Verse 37: “He was troubled and grieved.”
If you worry too much, you will become frustrated and frustrated. The Bible describes it as sorrow.
The remaining time is a time of worry enough to die! And surprisingly, he reveals the state of his heart to his disciples.
Verse 38: “My heart was so troubled that I was about to die…”
It's not that Jesus doesn't know his disciples. Knowing what kind of people the disciples are, he pours out his heart to them. It means that Jesus' troubles were that great. We don't open our hearts to it. Partly because I don't have anyone I can trust and I don't have anyone to talk to, but partly because it's shameful and embarrassing to tell my heart out.
But look at Jesus. "I'm going to die," he says. He also reveals it to his immature disciples. Normally, it was enough to confide in Heavenly Father in prayer. However, in this case, the stress was so severe that I had to tell the disciples, and it was a worry to the point of death.
Dear saints, going this far is the cross. If Jesus had been kind, would he have said so?
When we join the cross, we often say that we will carry the cross, but in Gethsemane, being nailed to the ground is not the only way to carry the cross. It is not just walking down Golgotha Hill with a cross. The troubles and stress that start in the heart before the event of the cross still takes place, that is the beginning of the cross. Those worries are not just ordinary worries, they are troubles to the point of death and anguish. How many near-death worries and heartaches are there in our real life? There are so many moments in our life that are so hard and exhausting, so sad and painful that we almost die. So, first think of Jesus, even if you are experiencing such pain and you can no longer see hope because of despair. Jesus, the Son of God, was also like that, so I hope you will be comforted while doing so.
How did Jesus deal with those worries and sorrows?
Please remember that Jesus went to Gethsemane. As I said in last week's sermon, Gethsemane was a familiar and familiar place of prayer for Jesus. Prayers to resolve troubles and to overcome sorrow are impossible with ordinary prayers. What is the prayer to go to the cross, the prayer to take up the cross? It is not in the length of time or in the amount of prayer, but in the concentration and earnestness of prayer. It is praying with earnestness, "God, please solve it. There is only God." It is not the kind of prayer you pray to receive comfort in your heart and to gain psychological stability just because you prayed.
Jesus stopped praying and came to the disciples. You did that twice. Why do you get up and go back and forth if you want to pray? It remembered the disciples even in earnest and desperate prayers, and came to care for them. You are here to encourage and teach prayer. Now, while saying that my nose is a stone, he said that he did not know everything else and did not focus on his own work. This is the image of a person carrying the cross.
Jesus said to his disciples. “The heart is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Then the disciples really wanted to pray as Jesus asked, and it seems that they wanted to do it. Jesus read the mind. But how do you deal with being tired and drowsy? So we all fell asleep.
This time, I had a special early morning prayer for 5 days, and there were many people who never missed it. He also came from Bundang. However, some saints came out and dropped out once or twice. Of course, there were a lot of people who didn't come out at all. I don't believe he didn't come, I believe he didn't. Who among the saints does not want to pray in the morning? The mind is the cause, but the body doesn't follow, so what will you do?
Jesus also came to his disciples the first time and said that he was sleeping because the flesh was weak, but as verse 43 says, the second time he came, he saw it and left. Look at verse 44. "Leave us behind..." I woke up the first time. "Wake up! Pray! If you wake up for an hour and pray together, where will it go? Savage bastards! He put the sleeping disciples in prayer poses and then left, but when he came the second time, he just went back to his place of prayer without saying anything.
What does it mean to be weak?
Are you saying that you are not feeling good because you lack vitamins, lack of nutrition, and have no muscle strength? no. He said that the flesh is weak when we cannot walk according to the circle of the heart. When your body doesn't follow what Jesus tells you to do as God wants you to, you're saying that your body is weak. It is important to have a healthy body by eating well and taking good care of it, but I hope that you will become stronger and stronger spiritually. Therefore, I hope that you will become strong and strong saints who can rule and control the body, who know that you have to do it, and who can actually raise your body and do all the things you think you have to do in the future.
