10:20-21
He said, "Why do you know that I have come to you? Now I will go back to fight the Persians, but after I go out, the Greeks will come, but I will first show you what is written in the truth. it's just
The angel Gabriel asks Daniel. “Why do you know that I have come to you?” In fact, Gabriel has already revealed the purpose of his coming to Daniel.
Please see verse 12.
"And he said, "Do not be afraid, Daniel, for your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words from the first day you set your mind to understand and humble yourself before your God."
Gabriel had come to Daniel with God's answer to Daniel's prayer.
Let's look at verse 14.
"Now I have come to make you aware of what will happen to your people in the last days."
Gabriel came to make Daniel understand what was going to happen to the people of Israel in the last days. So the angel Gabriel isn't asking because Daniel doesn't know, but he's asking to remind him once again of what Daniel already knows.
Anyway, what will happen after the angel Gabriel fights and wins the Persian army? “After I go out, the Greek army will come.” The Greek kingdom will come. Then there will also be evil spirits manipulating behind the Greeks. So Gabriel is telling us that he will continue to fight the Greek army as well.
We can see that everything in this world will happen as God foreordained and provided. It is God who moves and controls history. As God had provided and foreordained, the Persian kingdom passed and the Greek kingdom entered in its place. As King Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream, the age of arms and breasts made of silver has passed, and the age of ships and thighs made of bronze has arrived. And the age of the bear-like beast has passed and the age of the leopard-like beast has come. The two-horned ram was trampled down by the prominent horned goat. Persia disappeared and Greece came in.
We realize one important fact through these words. Just as there is an evil spirit that controls the Persian nation from behind and there is an evil force that controls Greece from behind, there is an evil force that controls the land of North Korea from behind. We can see that there is a North Korean military (君). We know that we must continue to pray so that the day when the poor North Korean compatriots can be released from the power of evil spirits and freely serve God soon comes. Pray for the North Korean compatriots to be released from the power of evil spirits and return to God's arms again.
Look at verse 21. "But I will first show you that it is written in the writings of truth." The "text of truth" here is a symbolic expression of what God has provided, planned, and foreordained. Everything in this world will happen as it is already written, as it is planned. The things to come are explained in detail in Daniel chapters 11 and 12. That is, the angel Gabriel is now showing Daniel.
"He who helps me against them." Here, "I" refers to the angel Gabriel, and "them" refers to evil forces such as the Persian army and the Greek army. He said, "Your army, Michael, is the only one who defeats the evil forces and opposes them." We can see here that there are angels protecting the people of Israel and fighting for them. That angel is Michael.
“Our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, the rulers of this darkness, and the spirits of evil in the heavens.”
In the last days, evil spirits are roaring like a roaring lion, trying to defeat us, God's chosen people, if possible. But Jesus said that not a single sparrow would ever fall to the ground without God's permission. He also said that God has already counted even the hairs of our heads. So we don't have to be afraid in the fight against the devil.
