Title Give thanks in the Holy Spirit
Contents
The text is from Colossians 3:15-17.
Today is Thanksgiving. How can I thank you? Paul prays with the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 6:18, David prophesies with the Holy Spirit in Psalm 110:1 (Mark 12:36), and Jesus rejoices with the Holy Spirit in Luke 10:21.
As it is said, “Everything that is not done by faith is sin” (Romans 14:23), we Christians must live by the Holy Spirit. That is why Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk in the Spirit” in verse 18, “be led by the Spirit” in verse 22, “bear the fruit of the Spirit” and in verse 25, “Walk in the Spirit.” The only one who has been bought by the Holy Spirit from beginning to end is Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:8 “conceived by the Holy Spirit” Matthew 4:1-2 “He prayed in the Holy Spirit and resisted the temptations of the devil” Matthew 12:28 “He cast out demons by the Spirit” Luke 10:21 “He was pleased with the Holy Spirit” John 14:26 spoke of “the Holy Spirit who will be sent in the name of Jesus,” and the Holy Spirit is called the “Counselor” (John 16:7) and is the Holy Spirit of truth (John 16:3). It is recorded that He testifies of (Acts 1:8). In John 20:22, after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22). When He ascended into heaven, He said to about 500 people, “When the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.” You said. In a word, He came as the Holy Spirit, prepared with the Holy Spirit, worked with the Holy Spirit, promised the Holy Spirit, and sent the promised Holy Spirit.
Since Jesus lived by the Spirit, we must also live by the Spirit. The spirit lives by the Spirit (John 6:63), the mind lives by the Spirit (Romans 8:5), and we must live in prayer, joy, and thanksgiving in the Spirit.
In Genesis 4, there is a story about the thanksgiving gifts that Cain and Abel gave to God, born of Adam. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. Cain offered the produce of the cultivated land, and Abel offered sheep as a sacrifice to God.
Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than that of Cain, and it was found that he was righteous.” 1 John 3:2 “Do not be like Cain, for he belonged to an evil one and killed his brother. Did he kill him? His deeds were evil.” Cain offered sacrifices to God, but because he did not set his heart on God and was under the control of the evil one (the devil), he lacked sacrifices to God in spirit and in truth. Therefore, God accepted that Abel offered a better sacrifice in faith than Cain.
Dear saints, No matter what kind of heart you came to worship with or prepared a gift of thanks, I hope that you will now put your hearts on God and become a worship service in the spirit and a gift of thanksgiving in the spirit. Gratitude that transcends the thoughts, desires, and circumstances of the flesh, thanksgiving through joy, gratitude, and love. God is pleased with giving thanks with a heart that is sad and apologetic for giving and giving and not being able to give more.
It is not easy to find peace in our hearts as we live in this world. So we must ask God. "God! Give me peace in my heart.” However, if you read verse 15 of the text today, you can rewrite it as this sentence. “In a peaceful heart there is gratitude, in a grateful heart there is peace.” If you want peace, be grateful. Gratitude brings peace. ειρ νη (peace, peace), ε χαριστοι (thanks). In verses 15, 16, and 17 of the main text, he repeatedly said, “Be thankful”. However, being grateful is not easy on my own terms. Therefore, one must be filled with the Holy Spirit and give thanks in the Holy Spirit.
When you receive grace, you can become full thanks. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we can become grateful. I wish you this kind of gratitude this morning. “Lord! Give thanks by the Holy Spirit.”
