Title Gen 24:61-67 Isaac meditates

Contents

Genesis 24:61-67 Isaac's Meditation Theme: 1. Marriage. 2008. 8. 17.

Introduction

: Marriage is an important concern of God, and He wants our marriage to be full of love, joy, and peace, so that our lives are rich and our hearts are rich.

The way is that we must choose the right mate (the mate God has given us). Therefore, we must pray about love and marriage so that we can meet and marry within the will of God.

If we choose a spouse that God does not allow, it will bring into our lives the unbearable pain of pain, suffering, and sometimes a huge problem. It will continue to plunge our lives into chaos.

Genesis 24 provides several steps to knowing God's will in marriage. I hope you will read it carefully.

This text is touching and dramatic because it is the first meeting between Isaac and Rebekah. It is also the scene of completing their marriage.

1. Rebekah's party appears. (61)

2. Isaac was a young man who meditated. (62~63)

3. Rebekah was a humble woman. (64~65)

4. She met Rebekah and married her. (66~67)

1. Rebekah's party leaves. (61)

After confirming the marriage decision and setting up evidence, follow the servant.

Look at the family's marriage decision, and hope that it will serve as a model for believers' marriage.

① By worshiping God (52)

② By giving a present (gift) (53)

③ By rejoicing and sharing fellowship with family and friends of both families (engagement ceremony) (54)

④ By comforting family members who are feeling lost (55~60)

The family prayed for Rebekah a blessing.(60)

* This was a prophecy indicating that Rebekah would belong to Abraham's promised lineage.

When the family asked Rebekah's opinion, Rebekah said she wanted to leave immediately.

Don't think of physical things only physically, and try to find the spiritual meaning.

2. Isaac was a young man of faith who meditated. (62~63)

Isaac is the son of faith that God gave to Abraham when he was 100 years old.

Isaac was a man who meditated on the faith of Abraham.

* Isaac went out to the field to meditate. (Pay attention to the place to meditate)

* Isaac meditated on what was to come.

I looked up and saw camels coming. This camel recognized the time of the servant's camel and walked towards it.(63)

3. Rebekah was a humble woman. (64~65)

Rebekah was a humble woman who looked at Isaac and got off the camel.

“Who is the one coming to us?” Isaac recognized the servant and was heading there.

* The servant answered, “This is my master.” It means your husband.

Rebekah “covered her face with a veil”

* When a woman gets off her camel and covers her face with a veil, it is the highest respect and courtesy.

4. She met Rebekah and married her. (66~67)

The servant told Isaac everything about how he found Rebekah.

Isaac brought Rebekah into her mother's tent, took her, took her as his wife, and loved her.

Rebekah was loved by Isaac.

* Notice that it was a great comfort to Isaac, who was deeply heartbroken after his mother passed away.

Apply

The day will come when the believer will complete the marriage and tie the knot. Like Isaac, we spend that day of contemplation and prayer.

You have to prepare your posture.

Related scriptures

“Walk in love, just as Christ loved you, who gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:2).

“Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25).

“In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they themselves; he who loves his wife loves himself” (Ephesians 5:28).

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

Conclusion:

Just because it is a carnal thing, it should not be interpreted only in a worldly and fleshly way.

God reveals spiritual things through fleshly things. Therefore, through Isaac's marriage, we must look back on our religious life today.

* Isaac will know and wait for Him as the image of the Lord, and Rebekah will be who we are today.
