Gen 7:10-24 Flood Judgment (Judgment and Salvation) Article:29. Referee. 2009. 3. 1.

Introduction

: It is a record of the great flood that covered the earth in the days of Noah.

Humans have become so sinful, lewd, illegal and ferocious that there is no godly person.

This text is not only about the Flood and Judgment, but also makes you think about the Last Judgment and salvation.

1. God's great power (10~12)

2. God's Great Salvation (13-16)

3. The Great Fulfillment of the Word (17-24)

1. God's great power (10~12)

One). He has set a day of great shock in history. (10)

A week before the flood, God taught Noah a week of preparation and after that period, a flood would wipe out humans from the ground. (Genesis 7:4)

The Flood was to be recorded forever. God's judgment is imminent.

* The Bible clearly states that it is the seventeenth day of February, in the year of Noah's 600th year.

(Mark 13:32-33; Matt 25:13; 24:32, 50-51; Luke 12:40, 46)

2). He broke the surface of the earth and made it burst out into all the streams of water underground. (11)

“The fountains of the great deep burst” and earthquakes occurred everywhere.

It means that all water sources, including all caves, springs, rivers, lakes, and the sea, were violently erupted below the surface of the earth. It is violently bursting and overflowing by the continuous vibrations in the groundwater and the ocean.

It was a wave that swept away all the people who were trying to escape with large and small boats on that day in an instant.

3). The power of God opened the windows of heaven and pushed them back. (11)

“Open the windows of the sky” and it rained continuously for forty days and forty nights without interruption.

After such violent vibrations and flooding of water on the ground, mountains, valleys, any body of water, islands, continents, and any land

The mass could no longer be maintained as it was.

There are two sources of water, ① all underground water burst and spurted up, and ② there was a torrential downpour.

2. God's Great Salvation (13~16)

God allowed Noah and his family to enter a safe ark.

Does the Bible emphasize this fact? (1~4, 7~9, 13~16,).

It is to emphasize God's salvation, God's eternal mercy and grace.

List of those who have been saved

①Noah,

②Three sons (Shem, Ham, Japheth)

③ The wife of Noah and his three sons

④ Animals (male and female pairs)

“The Lord shut the door” It means that God sealed the door so that water did not leak into Noah's boat.

Noah was now in the ark.

* Noah was safe and secure in the ark after he escaped the heavy rain caused by God's judgment. This ark is the refuge ordained by God to deliver Noah and his family from the terrible judgment that is imminent on this earth.

3. The Great Fulfillment of the Word (17-24)

It shows that God will do exactly what He said.

* If we do not live for God, God will judge us.

God did exactly what He said in the days of Noah.

One). made the ark come to mind. (17)

As God said He would do, He made the land flood for forty days and forty nights (Genesis 7:4, 6:17).

The great power of water ① the water increased (17) ② more and more and overflowed the earth (18) ③ the water overflowed more and more (19)

④ The water blew up and went up fifteen cubits, and the mountain was completely submerged. (20)

During the flood judgment, the ark floated on the water, so it did not break.

God judges humans for their selfishness and corruption, pride and denial of God, immorality and evil thoughts, lawlessness and violence. (Genesis 6:1~3, 5~7, 11~13, 17)

2). He destroyed all living things. (21-23)

Despite God's warning, humans continued to criticize, reject, deny, and rebel against God. The result was violence on the ground.

Tragedy stemming from human evil and God's justice are so important that this record of judgment was recorded three times.

① All living creatures on the ground died (21)

② All living things on land died (22)

③ He swept away every living thing on the ground (23)

People in Noah's day were deeply immersed in

* Fornication and pleasure, contact and sensual life, divorce and remarriage, wealth and money, violence and illegality, buying and selling, alcohol and drugs, property

accumulating and building houses.

God gave them a warning. And now he judged people just as he had said.

(1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Gal 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8)

3). He saved everyone in the ark with Noah. (23)

He fulfilled what He said to save Noah. (Ge 6:18~19; 7;1~2)

People outside the ark were swept away in fear and shock, crying and dying. But Noah and his family were terribly

saved from judgment. (John 3:16; 5:24; Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13...)

4). Water overflowed the ground. (24)

Water overflowed the ground while maintaining the water level for 150 days. Only God can do this.

* Wasn't it to prevent Noah's Ark from crashing here and there? think.
