Title [Genesis 29:15-20] Jacob's Marriage

After meeting God in Bethel, Jacob received new strength and went to Paddan Aram in hope. While staying with his maternal uncle Laban, he took Rachel and Leah as wives. Let's take a look at some of the lessons shown in this process and receive grace.

1. Laban to give a fair price (15)

Jacob told all his reasons for coming to Paddan-aram and lived with his maternal uncle. After working diligently for about a month, tending his sheep, his uncle Laban said to Jacob. He said, “Even though you are my son, how can you do my work with merit? Tell me what your reward is?” (15). This spirit is absolutely necessary in the field of work. It means that you should be given fair remuneration for the amount of work you have done, and you should work diligently as much as you are paid. Conflicts between labor and management stem from non-compliance with these principles. Conflict arises from the fact that workers work less and demand higher wages, and employers try to do more work and pay less. The biblical principle is, “You reap what you sow.” An environment in which remuneration is given according to the amount of work must be created.

2. Love that transcends time and effort (20)

3. Jacob deceived by Laban (25)

Jacob deceived his older brother and deceived his father. But now he himself was deceived by Laban. After serving for 7 years as a few days for the woman I love, Rachel, I finally started a family. After one night, I found out that it was not Rachel, but my sister Leah. Jacob questioned Laban. “Why did you do this to me? Did I not serve you for Rachel? Why did you deceive me?” (25). Remember that those who deceive others will one day be deceived themselves. Let's keep in mind that those who inflict pain on others will one day suffer the same. So let's do our best to do good to our neighbors as much as we can. Because the good will come back to you.

4. God's Fair Love (31)
