Education of Jacob's children (Genesis 37:1-17)
In the history of mankind, there has never been a time when educational opportunities and means for raising children were as abundant as today. At the same time, there has never been a time when education was as difficult as it is today. In the increasingly urbanized world, environmental and spiritual pollution is everywhere, and the waves of cars and secularism are pouring into the bedroom through the Internet, TV, and magazines. The reality of today is that if you go out the door, the touch of corruption is waiting everywhere. How can we raise our children well in Christ?
According to the text, Joseph was the eleventh of Jacob's twelve sons, who was sold into slavery in Egypt because of his brothers' jealousy. After being sold to Egypt, he was even imprisoned for the conspiracy of a lewd woman. But he was never disappointed. Rather, act faithfully by relying only on . So he eventually became prime minister of Egypt. What was the reason that Joseph was able to overcome all difficulties in this way? In the background, there was the merit of his father Jacob, who had well educated Joseph. If you want your children to be like Joseph, pray like Jacob.
1. I was raised to be honest (2)
== A Jewish mother and her son stopped by a department store to buy suits and coats. They returned home and opened the wrapping paper. But inside the pocket of his son's suit was a diamond ring. The ring fit my mother's finger well. Then the son said to his mother. “No one knows that there is a ring in her mother's suit pocket. This is my mother’s.” However, the mother went to the department store with her son without saying a word and explained what happened. Then the store owner said: “The one who bought the clothes is the owner of the ring. Why do you want to return the ring to me? The mother looked at her son's face and answered: “I just bought clothes. I never bought a ring. I am a Jew.” Seeing this, the son learned Jewish honesty from his mother. “Because I am a Christian.” These words should be a guarantee of honesty and trust.
- Jacob taught Joseph by the doctrine of , educating Joseph to walk honestly in the word. Having received such an education, he discerned that his brothers' actions were unjust, and was able to honestly tell his father without compromising with injustice.
Deuteronomy 6:18 “Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, and you will be blessed, and you will enter and take possession of the good land which the LORD swore to your ancestors to confiscate and drive out from before you, as the LORD has said. "
Get a haircut to make your day happy. If you want to be happy for a week, get married. If you want to be happy for a month, buy a horse, and if you want a happy year, build a new house. But if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, be honest.
(British proverb)
Psalm 25:8 "The LORD is good and upright; therefore he will instruct sinners in his way." Pray to teach them to live honestly like Jacob.
2. He nurtured my dreams (5-11)
A boy who was born as the son of a poor farmer and went to high school as a shoe shiner in Seoul. The boy hated the poverty of rural Korea and dreamed of rural revival. And I wish to study abroad in Denmark. Even at the early morning prayer meeting, I always prayed saying ‘Denmark, Denmark’. He wrote his dream of studying abroad in English letters. However, he did not know who to send this letter to, so he wrote “King Frederick IX, Copenhagen, Denmark” on an envelope. Surprisingly, 40 days later, a letter of admission to a local university and a round-trip flight ticket were received from the Danish royal aide and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is Dr. Ryu Tae-young, a pioneer of the rural movement, who studied in Denmark and Israel and returned to Korea and served as vice president of Konkuk University. He had a dream and lived by that dream. The Bible teaches us this. Romans 4:18 “Hope in the midst of hope” (Romans 4:18) This is the power of looking. dream ability.
- Jacob rebuked Joseph for thinking of other brothers when he told Joseph about his dream, but he kept the words in his heart and secretly nurtured his dream.
Everyone has a dream. But not everyone can achieve that dream. Because it is not put into action. 4 secrets to making your dreams come true. It is curiosity, courage, persistence and confidence. The most important of these is confidence.
== Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motors, ran over ten miles to see a doctor whenever his mother became ill as a child. It was then that Ford dreamed of making a vehicle faster than a wagon. He has dreams in his heart and works tirelessly. Confidence and courage made continuous effort possible. As a result, a car that was faster than a wagon was developed. Successful people have a clear reason to succeed. Successful people take challenges when faced with difficulties. They never get frustrated. Even the experiences of frustration are lessons for success. But those who fail find excuses in the face of adversity.
Everyone! Like Jacob, let your children have dreams. Don't ignore your dreams and grow them. I pray that Joseph will be produced in the family for the country and people by instilling confidence that dreams will come true.
3. Strong training (12-17)
== Father eagles start training their young when the time is right in a safe nest built on high places. The eagle first bites the thorn, puts it in its nest, and flaps its wings on it. The prickly eagle chicks stumble and pop out. And it flaps its wings and flies after its father eagle. However, because of the lack of strength in the wings, it fell from a high place without any reason. The father eagle then spreads its wings, catches the young, and places them on the wings. Then he throws the cub again and makes it fly, and when he tries to fall, he puts it on his shoulder and climbs up. To make this little eagle the king of the flying beasts through repeated trials and tribulations and overcoming difficulties. Becoming an eagle like this is by no means accidental.
= If we want to win in life, we have to keep training.
- Jacob didn't just protect Joseph like a flower in a greenhouse, even though he was the son he expected and loved. Rather, he sent him to a rough field where his brothers were, and trained him to be a strong man.
Everyone! Train your children to be strong. Even if it's hard, do it like an eagle.
Under Jacob's excellent education, a man (Joseph) for the nation and nation emerged. I pray that all of you will display the glory by producing Joseph, a man who is essential in this age, through Jacob's education method.
