Title [Genesis 3:12-19] A broken family
Title: A broken family
God wanted Adam and Eve to have a happy family. But the family's happiness was shattered. The root cause is the sins they have committed. Sin is a terrible thing that destroys the happiness of the family. Therefore, we must become believers who abstain from sin.
1. They disobeyed the Word of God (1-6).
“Sin is the disobedience or disobedience of God’s Word.” Adam and Eve turned human history, which started with happiness, into unhappiness. Because you have sinned. They could not resist the serpent's temptation. The serpent is the devil (Revelation 12:9, 20:2). The devil always deceives with his cunning words. They are even deceived by God's law. God had already ordained the law, “If you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). However, the devil slightly altered the law and asked, “Did you say, ‘You must not eat from any tree?’” Eve replied, “Do not touch it.” He added, “I am afraid of dying.” At that time, with a smile of conversion, the devil deceived him by saying, “I will never die” and “I will become like God.” In the end, he disobeyed the Word of God. It was only eating the forbidden fruit. Be careful not to get caught up in the snake's delusion. You must never add or subtract from the word.
2. He hid from Jehovah God (7-10).
If you commit a sin, you are supposed to flee from it. This is conscience. These days, there are people who commit sins and go about shamelessly. I hope to learn from Adam. He hid in fear of God (10). Sin creates fear. We must fear sin. But God came to Adam who was hiding. And that's what he called. This is love. Grace. Salvation is not achieved by man seeking God, but by God seeking sinners. We should be thankful to God for visiting and calling us, who are already sinners.
3. He gave only excuses and excuses (11-13).
4. The punishment for sin was given (14-19).
Anyone who commits a sin must be punished.
① First, let's look at the punishment given to Eve. “I will greatly increase the pain of childbearing, and you will labor and bear children, and you will long for your husband, and he will rule over you” (16). The labor of childbearing and childbirth is the greatest of all women's sufferings. We must know that this is the result of sin and accept it. Also, longing for your husband and being ruled by him are the consequences of sin and you must accept it. Ephesians 5:22 says, “Wives, submit to your husbands as you would to the Lord.” It means to acknowledge your husband's authority.
② He punished Adam even more severely. “Cursed is the land because of you, because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree, which I commanded you not to eat; and you shall toil all the days of your life, and then you will eat of its fruit. The earth will bring forth thorns and thistles for you; Because it is a vegetable, in the sweat of your face you will eat food, and eventually you will return to the dust, for in it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return” (17-19). I did. The husband has to take responsibility for his livelihood, but he has to work hard and sweat. He also said that there would be pain from thorns and thistles at work. I mean, it's never easy. There are always thorns and thistles on our path, and the pain we experience as we navigate through them is unspeakable. Pilgyeong said he would return to the dust. It refers to physical death. The word of God was fulfilled as it was (Genesis 2:17). Genesis 5:5 says that Adam died at the age of 930.
The wages of sin is obviously death.
5. He made and clothed them with leather garments (21).
“The Lord God made and clothed Adam and his wife with garments of skin” (21). This verse, along with verse 15, "The offspring of a woman will bruise you in the head, and you will bruise his heel." Skins can be obtained by sacrificing animals. That is, there must be bleeding. The blood is testified as a foreshadowing of the sin offering in the Old Testament (Leviticus 4:13-21) and the atoning death of Jesus in the New Testament (Romans 3:25). In this way, we can see that God does not forget His mercy even when he punishes those who have sinned. After all, sin has made not only one family unhappy, but the entire human race. Now, let us resist the temptation of sin so that our families restored in Christ will never again be unhappy.
