Title [Genesis 49:8-12] Jacob's Blessing
Genesis 49 is the “Blessing of Jacob” chapter. Of course, there are references to curses, but if you meditate deeply, you can even call them blessings. This is because if you repent of your past mistakes and live righteously before God, you can be used preciously. To give an example, the lesson can be found in the fact that a curse was pronounced upon Levi (7), but later he became a master of temple service. Now, let us introduce the important lessons related to the blessings shown in this chapter so that we can receive grace.
1. Gathered family members for blessing (1-2).
2. Blessed according to each person's measure (28).
Not all twelve tribes were blessed with the same content. We blessed with different contents, because each person had a different measure. The quantity mentioned here can be understood in two or three senses.
② It refers to faith. No matter how much blessing you receive, it cannot be given if you do not receive it with faith. When blessing and faith are united, power will appear and all empty blessings will be given as they are. You must be sure that Almighty God can give you what He has blessed you with, or you must believe that He will.
③ Refers to a vessel that can handle it. This can also be referred to as an ability. God knows each person's abilities. If you entrust your five talents to someone who can afford one, you will actually lose money. God knows my abilities, so He only gives me blessings within the limits I can handle. If you give more than that, you will never allow it because it will be useless or harmful. In this way, Jacob gives blessings according to the measure of each person according to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
3. They blessed the coming of the Messiah.
The world's wealth and glory that blessed Joseph is also a precious blessing, but this spiritual blessing that blessed Judah is one of Jacob's blessings (8-12). It is said that a ruler will come out of the house of Judah (10), that Shiloh (Messiah) will come at last (10), and all the peoples will sing praises and obey him. The prophecy of the Messiah is the greatest and most blessed word not only for the Israelites but also for all people. As prophesied, Jesus, the Messiah, came and became our substitute. After blessing this coming of the Messiah, Jacob confessed, “I am waiting for your salvation, O LORD.” Let us become all of us who are waiting for the Second Coming of the Messiah, who accomplished salvation at his first advent. Jacob's blessing is a blessing declared to all of us. I hope that all the saints will accept this blessing with faith and enjoy it for their children and grandchildren.
