Title [Genesis 6:1-12] The Fallen World
Title: Fallen World
Genesis 6 contains the words to declare and prepare for God's judgment on the fallen world. I would like to receive grace by introducing the text under the title of the Fallen World.
1. The Fall of Noah's Day
There are people who have led a righteous and godly life like Noah, but we can see that everyone but him and his family are so corrupt that they have no choice but to be judged by God.
① My thoughts or plans were always evil (5). Every action starts in the mind. In other words, depending on what kind of thoughts or plans you make, your actions will change. But they were evil in their thoughts and plans in general. It's always been bad, so I'm really sorry.
② All actions were corrupt and violent (11-12). Corruption refers to something deeply corrupted. This means that illegality and injustice are extreme, bribery works, and sexual decadence. Violence is vicious and heinous. In other words, it means destroying the natural order established by God through robbery, murder, looting, and rape. It can be seen that in Noah's day, he fell so severely.
③ It was said that all of the above sins were state-run (5). Gwanyeong means greatness and fullness. Verse 11 says, “The earth was full” and verse 13 says, “Because the earth was full”. You can see that it is full enough that there is no more room. It cannot be denied that the age we are living in is just as depraved as the age of Noah. I hope that we will become believers who find ourselves in their image, repent, and seek God's forgiveness and grace.
2. Causes of the Fall
①It was a problem to see the beauty of the daughters of men. Just as Eve “beheld” the tree of knowledge and sinned, so we sin by seeing worldly things. So we should see what we should see and not see what we shouldn't see. In particular, people only see outward appearances, but we must look at the heart rather than the outside, and our spiritual eyes must be brighter than the naked eye to see the spiritual world. May we be freed from all the yokes of evil that stimulate our eyes and deceive us.
②It was also a problem to choose what they liked. Most people try to do what they like. But its consequences are linked to sin. Because they are drunk with their lusts. We need to learn to take what God likes, not what we like. God knows what we need most. Therefore, we should pray that God will grant us what is good for us, that is, what is best for us.
③ Having a wife was a problem. God wants a godly family. The sons of God had to marry the daughters of God. But by marrying the daughters of men, they walked the path of corruption. It is a great spiritual adventure for a believer to marry an unbeliever, and it is not pleasing to God. We must be careful not to mate with the world.
3. God's Judgment on the Fallen
When God saw that the sons of God were deceived and corrupted by the daughters of men, it was very painful. And you judged.
① He was troubled and lamented (6,7). God is very heartbroken when the saints sin. The Holy Spirit prays with groanings that cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26). You must not grieve and groan the Holy Spirit.
② He decided to destroy them (3, 13, 17). There was worry and lamentation until this decision was made. Those who repent and turn back before this decision is made are wise.
