Title Glory to God / Luke 13:10-17
Content Glory to God / Luke 13:10-17
If you look at people doing martial arts, you will see that all the movements are smooth and the power is well distributed. The more you can't do it, the more you'll see that you're only holding on to a good form and putting a lot of energy into it. The same goes for people who make music. A person who is good at it does not have strength in the body and neck. People who are not able to do so have a lot of energy in their body and neck, which makes them feel inconvenient and uncomfortable to listen to.
The word hypocrite is a Chinese character that uses good good (善) for false stomach (僞). That is, disguising as something good. Who does camouflage? Those who give in weakness need not disguise. Those who think that I am good at falling and are not good at falling need not disguise themselves. A person who thinks that I can do everything for nothing is disguised.
Such a person is a proud person. Because I deceived me that I can do everything, God's power cannot enter, and God's justice cannot enter because I think I am good. Through today's text, we will look at those who glorify God and those who cannot.
1. The weak woman glorified God.
This woman was a woman who had been afflicted with a demon for 18 years. It was so painful that she was so crooked that she couldn't even open it. In a word, there was nothing he could do. I was in a situation where I needed the help of everyone to survive.
Every situation and every condition was a situation in which it was impossible to speak of the glory of God. For 18 years, I suffered from a disease enough to ask myself, “Am I cursed by God?” However, he did not turn this into a curse or resentment, and he put the strength of God in his weakness. He approached the Lord and asked for his own healing, and Jesus showed his power to heal again.
Electronics that are connected to a power source can continue to operate as they continue to receive energy. However, if it is unplugged from the power source, it will not work. When I was weak and surrendered my weakness to God, I saw the glory of God.
2. The leader of the synagogue, who thought he knew everything, was angry at the glory of God.
The ruler of the synagogue is a man who knows all the law. I knew what the law was, so I knew what not to do. So I ask Jesus. “If you have six working days, how can you fix these six working days on this Sabbath now? It should be fixed on another day.” while rebuking Jesus.
I read something like this in a book. When we surveyed people who have committed fatal moral sins against the American megachurches, they found that most of them are moral supremacists who usually shout, "I never commit such sins."
All humans are weak creatures. We are weak before God, and we are weak even before humans. But when they condemn themselves as if they knew everything, such a person could not see the glory of God. The leader of the synagogue thought he knew everything, but in reality, he is also a man living his own sins. When such a person is rebuking the Son of God, it is like a person who believes in household appliances with the power turned off. Such people do not enjoy the glory of God.
3. The glory of God cannot be hidden from all who are perfect.
Verse 17 says, “When Jesus had said these things, all those who opposed him were ashamed, and all the people rejoiced in all his glorious works.” All those who say they are strong know that they are weak. They know they can't solve everything. And all the people are looking forward to the glory of God because of their weakness. Your own shortcomings and weaknesses are clear, but how can you hide the glory of God?
There were some parents. The parents were always sorry for not being good to their children. Because of their poverty and weakness, they thought that they could not take care of their children. One day, when he confessed to his son that he had not raised him properly due to his own shortcomings, the child finally came to know their parents and helped them more. Parents' love shines brighter when their deficiencies are exposed. Likewise, God's glory shines brighter when we expose our weaknesses to God.
Anyone who considers himself strong, who thinks he can do everything, is like an appliance that refuses to supply power. On the other hand, those who glorify God and confess their shortcomings are those who put them before God.
