Sermons for Preaching

Title Gojingamrae/2 Sam 5:1-5

Content Introduction

1. There is a saying that has been passed down from ancient times, “gojingamrae”, which means that there is happiness at the end of hardship.

2. No one will enjoy suffering. But the suffering is worth it. That's why the old adults used to say, 'Even if you're young, hard work pays off'.

3. Bill Clinton, the president-elect of the United States, is also said to have suffered a lot in his early years. There are very few people who have not gone through hardships in the early years for a person who has made history.

4. David, the political leader most admired by the Israelis, is the man who suffered so much that no one can compare. But now a new era has begun for him.

I. Became necessary (1-2).

A. Be the king.

1. David had already been chosen as the second king of Israel through Samuel. However, there are several important reasons for his failure to ascend the throne.

1) Above all, it was because Saul did not give up his seat.

2) But the second important reason is the fact that there was no absolute support from the people. If all the people had followed David, Saul's efforts, no matter how forceful he might have endured, would have been futile in the end.

3) Therefore, it was the providence of God that Saul was chased away.

2. The people of Israel at that time were divided into the southern and northern regions, and although David was already recognized as their leader in the southern region, the northern part under Saul did not. And the political situation in the north was very chaotic.

3. Chapter 4 describes the complicated circumstances of that time well. But God guided the hearts of the patriarchs to choose David.

4. David did not go out of his way to become president, but he did not pursue a political campaign, but received the same respect as the people's enthusiasm.

B. You have to wait.

1. There is a saying called atmospheric continuity. If you keep trusting in God and wait for Him, you will never lose.

2. Everything is God's will. It is necessary to pay more attention to how to become a person worthy of God's will rather than what to do and become a person.

3. The most important thing is the belief that God will entrust you with great things if you are faithful in the smallest things.

4. Comparing ourselves to others often makes us impatient. That's why the Ten Commandments say, 'You shall not covet your neighbor'.

[God made David, who had been waiting and living in faith, recognized as a necessary existence from everyone.

II. A favorable environment is given (3).

A.I signed a contract.

1. God blessed David so that he could rule the people according to his convictions under favorable conditions.

2. Becoming a tyrant is because you lack confidence as a leader or do not receive support from the people. However, David entered into a contract with the patriarchs so that he could govern himself to the fullest with his absolute support.

B. God made a covenant with us.

1. It is a covenant that gives eternal life to those who believe in Jesus as their Savior. Prosperity on earth is important, and being successful and rich is important, but what good is it if your soul cannot be saved? But God has opened the way to eternal life in Jesus.

2. Not only that, but He opened a way to prosper on earth as well. David is just an example. We can all receive the same blessing as David through faith.

[God made David recognized as necessary by all, and also gave him very favorable conditions. And this time --- ]

III. The blessing of long life (4-5).

A. It is important to stay seated.

1. More important than what kind of task you take on is the question of how long you keep the position. Saul was the only one chosen from among the twelve tribes, but he did not hold that position for a short time.

2. There are many civil servants who become ministers and leaders, but get caught up in complicated cases and are short-lived and drop out. So it is said that there must be a 'gwanun'

3. David performed his duties with respect from the people for 40 years. Isn't there a saying that there is no such thing as 10 years?

4. World history testifies that the leaders who ruled for 20 years by force ended their lives with tragic words. Although North Korea's Kim Il-sung was the only one to enjoy 40 years of rule, he brought misery to the nation. We know to some extent how serious the situation in North Korea is.

5. David did not hold the throne for 40 years by force and wielding an iron fist. He is still respected by his descendants after 1500 years.

B. Trust only God.

1. Trust your way. Then the word of the promise he will keep will not change.

2. The discipline always trains me to be beneficial Just as only strongly trained soldiers survive the war, only those who obey God's refinement can do their best in the work God has entrusted to them and enjoy the grace of longevity.

conclusion

1. David's beginning was very weak. At one time, he was in a humble situation where he had to take on the role of the captain of the lowly ones, but God gave him unprecedented grace through his obedience to everything.

2. He never campaigned. They don't even know what slander is, and what's more, they don't know what slander is. But God made him an honorable person for everyone.

3. He also followed Guan Yun. He ruled for a long period of 40 years without success.

4. Just as David made a covenant to rule with the patriarchs of Israel, God made a covenant with us. It is called a 'grace contract'. Anyone who confesses their sins and accepts Jesus as their Savior is a covenant to become a child of God and to receive eternal life as a gift.
