Title Good and Evil
Contents
(Genesis 3:8-21) “You shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat of it you will surely die” (2:17).
In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve in their image and made them live and work in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 1:28).
But, “You may eat from every tree of the garden, but you shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat of it you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). I was expelled from the garden.
God originally gave many recommendations to 'do', and there was only one prohibition clause, 'the fruit of good and evil'. However, eating the forbidden fruit and committing crimes caused him to wander aimlessly and suffer physical pain. In the Ten Commandments that Moses received at Mount Sinai, only two recommend 'do', and the other eight commandments forbid 'don't'. clause. The more fallen human beings, the more 'the fruit of good and evil' in the prohibition clause. Let's look at the reasons why Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and sinned.
1. He was close to good and evil.
Even though there were many good fruits to eat in the large garden, I lingered under the tree of good and evil that I should not eat them. They must have come under the tree of the tree of good and evil, looking at them, stroking them, smelling them, and shaking them. The serpent didn't tell them to come, but they came to the place of temptation first.
We, too, are easily tempted by snakes in the same circumstances. Psalm 1:1 says, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers."
Blessed is the man who hears the temptations of the wicked, but does not obey their counsel. The blessed man is tempted by sinners, but he does not stand in the way. Blessed is the one who is tempted by the arrogant, but he does not sit there.
There is a saying 'quiet silent black'. It means that if you are close to the calligraphic writing area, ink will easily splash on your clothes. It is easy to gamble when you are together in a gambling room, and it is easy to drink when you are together at a drinking party.
2. It modifies the 'word'.
There is a difference between temptation and excitement. 'Temptation' is to deceive people with plausible words, and 'inspiration' moves people with the word of truth. Temptation corrupts the body, but emotion awakens the soul.
Speaking of meals, God's Word is like a 'set meal', and the serpent's temptation is like a 'snack'.
There is a time for set meals and no time for snacks. Set meals are usually set in quantity, and snacks are irregular in quantity. The set menu is constant, but the snacks are varied. Set meals taste almost the same, but snacks are unique.
The same is true of our religious life. We have to live our lives formally, and if we try to fill our stomachs with snacks, we will only end up with an upset stomach.
In that sense, 'testimony' is different from 'sermon'. A testimony is the spiritual experience of each individual. A testimony, no matter how best, is just a testimony. Just because someone has had a certain spiritual experience doesn't mean I have to fit into that formula.
When I was a kid, I tried to imitate 'Heungbu' by breaking the swallow's leg and putting it away with bandages, but it was all in vain. Even if you eat a good snack, even if it is not a snack, you should eat a set meal at the same time as three meals a day.
It is difficult to say that you are a normal believer just because you went to any prayer center or family altar, were ordained, and experienced grace. You can become a more normal believer by serving faithfully in the given position in this church where your name is registered. So snacks are like the tree of knowledge. Poisonous mushrooms are more colorful, puffer fish roe tastes better, and the more harmful the food, the fresher it looks.
3. We must be vigilant against the daily fruit of good and evil.
① The lesson of good and evil for a week is 'weekday'. From Monday to Saturday, we devote ourselves to the work of the world for the sake of our bodies, but because Sunday is a 'Lord's Day' and a 'Holy Day', we must separate it from the world's work and focus our attention on the spiritual work of the Lord.
Every day is my day, and Sunday is the Lord's day. So, Sunday is the so-called 'fruit of good and evil' that we should not eat because we only think about our body.
② Money also has the fruit of good and evil. It says tithing. Of the money we earn, one tenth belongs to the Lord and the rest is mine. You can use nine tenths for our sake, but tithes are the fruit of good and evil that we must give to the Lord. This is like 'seed money'.
③ There is also the tree of good and evil in the picture. You must not make or buy sensational paintings or sculptures. It is recommended to refrain from engraving pictures of wild beasts or symbols of pagan idols on tables such as scrolls and folding screens, or on furniture such as pottery and wardrobes. A vine instead of a dragon and a dove instead of a tiger are better.
④ Decadent music, parasitic tourism, obscene movies, and painted magazines are also fruits of good and evil that our members should not approach. It is better to have the Bible close to you than those things. Some elderly people say that they don't go to 'Senior-Seoul-Dang' because only their ears get dirty.
Dialogue, clothes, and makeup have the fruit of knowledge. You have to be careful not to succumb to your words, and be very careful with heavy makeup, lewd clothing, and disgusting gestures.
⑤ Even in the given position, there is the tree of good and evil. Unlike the duties of the world, the noble priesthood received from the church has a mission. You must do your best to serve faithfully. The priesthood should not be neglected or neglected. We must honor the servants of the Lord, who are anointed.
4. There is a religious tree of good and evil.
Last time I was sitting in a smoking seat on a flight to the United States, I was in pain because the passengers in the front and back were smoking so much that I had a headache. But the smoke he was smoking took the shape of a strange monster.
When I got off at the airport, I saw a photo of a cloud-shaped battle between Jesus and the devil appearing at the Texas airport in a daily sports newspaper, and the next day I heard the news of Tak Myeong-hwan, director of the International Institute for Religious Studies. He can be said to be the scapegoat who was sacrificed in discerning the religious fruit of good and evil.
In conclusion, we must be careful about the forbidden fruit in everything we do in our life of faith.
① I live by virtue. what virtue? thanks to jesus
