Title [Good deeds of rebirth]
2014. 11. 16 Sunday morning sermon
.
Bible: Matthew 5:13-16
Title: Good deeds of rebirth
.
Matthew 5:13-16 ‘13. You are the salt of the world; if salt loses its taste, with what is it salted? After that, it is of no use, but is thrown out and trampled on by men. and glorify your Father who is in heaven' - Amen.
.
If the Ten Commandments Moses received at Mount Sinai were the center of the Law, the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:-7:) commanded by Jesus is the center of Christian faith. The Sermon on the Mount is not something that the spirit of unbelievers can handle, but it is the duty of believers. It is the center where believers glorify the Father with good life. We would like to hear the meaning of the theme of <Good deeds of rebirth>
.
1. Salt and Light
.
He said that the saints who taught the so-called 8 blessings and will live their lives according to the principles are symbolically the salt and light of the world.
.
1) The text Matthew 5:13, 14’13. You are the salt of the world...14. You are the light of the world.' Salt is a very precious substance for preventing spoilage and for flavoring it. It was used for sacrifices in the Old Testament (Leviticus 2:13). Salt symbolizes harmony and grace in relationships with people. Colossians 4:6 “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt” (Mark 9:50).
.
2) The text Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world.” This is the premise that the world is dark. Ephesians 5:8 “You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.”
When we live in the world, we don't know how dark the world is, but if we live according to Jesus' will, we realize that the world is dark. Toward the world, the saying that saints become salt and light means becoming a transformer that changes the world.
.
2. Into the world, not inside the church
.
“You are the salt and light of the world” refers to the field of Christian faith. It makes you aware of the needs of the Christian faith. It speaks of the value of religion.
Buddhism avoids world history, but Christianity is a participatory and responsible religion. The church is an organization where those who have been saved become salt and light to the world.
.
As a saint, first of all,
1) First, we give thanks to God for salvation.
It is not right to say that we believe in Jesus and preach without confirmation of our salvation. First, we must thank God with the assurance of salvation and lead a church-centered life properly.
Ephesians 1:11-12 ‘11. .. we have been predestined and have become an inheritance in him 12. That we .. may be to the praise of his glory.'
.
2) To glorify the world with good deeds
We are saved through faith in Jesus. Romans 3:28 “Therefore we acknowledge that a person is justified not by works of the law, but by faith” (Mark 10:17; John 6:28-29; Galatians 2:16).
But the question is, what does it mean to believe in Jesus?
.
To believe in Jesus is to believe in Jesus as the Savior and try to imitate that life. It is said that the couple look alike. That's what builds trust. A lot of young couples get divorced, but they don't want to look like each other. As you get older, you understand more and become more like you. To believe in Jesus well is to resemble each other. We are trying to imitate the life of Jesus itself.
.
Jesus was hated by the world because of his existence and faith, not because of any evil deeds. John 10:33 “The Jews answered, “We do not want to stone you for good works, but because of blasphemy, because you, being a man, call yourself God” (Matthew 22:16).
.
That is, it was not because of good deeds in society, but because of ideas that were hated, accused, and executed. But today's Korean churches are being criticized and accused by society not because they believe in and testify to Jesus, but because they are being criticized for doing evil in society. The understanding of the so-called Salvation Sect of faith is wrong, but the actions of the church are wrong. It is in stark contrast to the fact that the persecution of Jesus was not life, but thought.
John 8:12 “Jesus spoke again, saying, I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (Ephesians 5:8; Isaiah 42:6).
Matthew 5:15 “Man does not light a lamp and put it under the horse, but on the lampstand.”
