Title: Gospel and Circumstances/Exodus 15:1-3
At that time Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, saying, "I will praise the LORD, for he is exalted and glorious, for he has thrown his horse and his rider into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song and my salvation. He is my God, and I I will praise him, for he is my father's God, and I will exalt him. The LORD is a mighty man, and the LORD is his name.
Exodus 15:1 3
Introduction - Raising a problem
This text is the first part of the content of the first songs that the Israelites sang with joy after witnessing what God had done when they complained about God and Moses with fear and fear in front of the Red Sea. This song consists of all five stanzas, the first four stanzas sang about deliverance from the Red Sea, and the last five stanzas sang about the future and a hopeful vision for the conquest of Canaan. Moses and all the people of Israel sang as if by a single man, and the content revealed that they were praising because the reason for the song was [Jehovah is strength, song, and salvation]. It's a powerful hymn.
Today, I would like to consider the principles behind Israel's lively praise.
1. Definition of the Gospel
What is the Gospel? You can say [good news] or [good news]. However, these words only help us understand the word [Gospel] in a dictionary meaning, and cannot define anything. To define the gospel is to show us where our faith lies. Some attend a large (?) church every time to promote their business. Others use the church for good socializing.
The gospel they have will only have their own purpose. For what reason and purpose do you and I go to church today by believing in Jesus? Gospel.
And we can already define what the gospel is. However, I think it is more important how closely the gospel we define is closely related to our lives.
To what extent is the Lord's gospel exerting influence in our lives, in our homes, and in our hope? We are extremely passive beings who can shape [I] only after receiving external influences from birth. When I was growing up, I was mostly influenced by my parents. In school, we are influenced by teachers and friends.
In society, we are influenced by our superiors and colleagues. In the church, spiritual leaders and members of the same group are greatly influenced by the saints who are called first.
We must expect a far greater and stronger influence than the influence we receive from them.
In the gospel of Jesus Christ - - - His course must have a close influence on my life. It is because of His sacrifice of love that we are able to deal with all things with joy and endure in all circumstances, so that we can rejoice more and live well with more patience. But if we do it of our own will, every situation will bring us limits. With only the Gospel, all situations will be resolved through our power given to us by the Lord. Therefore, the gospel is deeply related to me and each of us, and when it is related, it can change lives and exert its true power to win. Therefore, the gospel must be mine.
2. Situation
(1) Historical & Philosophical Situation
While leading a seminar at a university meeting, a university student asked this question.
'Is God a historical God? Are you a philosophical God?' I was perplexed by that question, but I quickly replied, 'God is an ethical God.' Ethics are both in history and in philosophy. The existence of God is much easier and at the same time very difficult than we think. It is also an area that cannot be crossed like the limiting line of human knowledge. However, in the Bible, we have to confess humbly that there were many times when we presented only the fa ade (?) that had already disappeared to that God. What's the problem? Each 痢₂ complacency is the biggest problem. We can make things our way. But it must be the will of the Lord, not our will. In the midst of this, we can ask God for our existence and help, and give thanks for each part and give thanks in the present circumstances.
I think that would be a real compliment.
Conclusion - Summary and Suggestions
The gospel is the relationship with God itself. That body is the situation we face, our life, and our valuable existence. We think a lot about the difference between reality and ideals. Sometimes the difference shouldn't be.
If the situation is all the reality we have, the gospel that exerts an existential influence, not an ideal, can motivate our lives and bring about the right response.
Dear saints, And young intellectuals! Now we must transform all our circumstances into our lives based on the Gospel, and live our lives with praise in a meaningful response.
