1. Man, the greatest masterpiece made in the image of God: verses 26-27
First, God created the natural environment, plants, and numerous kinds of animals. After that, he finally decided to create man in the image of God. God was so excited that he said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.” To put it more realistically, “Come on! Now let's make the best masterpiece.” Truly, we humans are God's greatest masterpiece created by the Holy Trinity.
However, while all other creatures were created with the word, only humans were created in the image of God. Therefore, human beings can have a relationship with God, share heart and mind, share thoughts, share thoughts, and commune with God. So the more we restore the image of God in Christ, the more we have a passion for communion with God. We read God's Word to communicate with God's thoughts, pray to communicate with God's heart, and do missions to communicate with God's will.
Second, looking at Genesis 1, God created one by one, and seeing what he created, he admired how good it was. Every time we open our hearts and look at creation, we sympathize with the admiration. Only humans admire the things that God has created. I like. enjoy. The more the grace of Jesus is, the more we can admire, enjoy, and enjoy the things God has created. The more God's grace is full, the more we discover, move, and enjoy our life itself, which is full of beauty and mystery.
Third, God created us humans in His image. Therefore, human beings have a dignity that is different from other creatures. The more the image of God is restored in Christ, the more the dignity God has given will be restored and it will be changed into a noble life.
2. Blessed to fill the earth: verse 28
The first thing God did when he created man in his image was to bless him. In our subconscious mind, I think that in order to have a blessed life, I have to mobilize everything I have to acquire the blessing. But the Bible tells us that blessings are a gift from God to us. As soon as God created man, God's blessing was, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
“Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it,” God blessed. If there are families who want to have children, please declare them with these words. Also, this word of blessing is a blessing that applies to the workplace, livelihood, study, and business that God has given us. Because God has blessed him like that. God gives us the blessing of being fruitful, multiplying, and filling the earth with our lives restored to the image of God in Christ.
3. The mission of rule: verses 28-31
The purpose of creating human beings in God's image is to represent God and fulfill his mission. To represent God means to rule on God's behalf with the authority that God has given us, and to become God's hands and feet and God's mouth on God's behalf.
God has given us a mission as representatives of God and ministers to the world on behalf of God. “Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” As those who have been delegated the authority to represent God from God, they have become God’s hands and feet on behalf of God, and become God’s mouth. God has given us the mission to rule this created world in a good way in His sight. God sees the fulfillment of that mission and is deeply moved and admired.
This governing work cannot be done without God's blessing. It can only be done with the blessing of being fruitful and multiplying and replenishing the earth. Also, only when we receive the blessing of conquering the earth can we rule in a good way in God's eyes. That is why, on behalf of God, God gives the necessary material and necessary authority to those who carry out His work.
Dear brothers and sisters, I pray that all of us will take on the precious mission of being transformed into the beautiful image that God desires. Also, I bless you that our church will be used to change the world into what God wants you to be. I pray that God's work of creation will be restored within us, that God's blessings will overflow, and that God's work will overflow through those blessings.
