Title [Happy Today] Children's Education
Contents
1 Samuel 2:12-17
The priest Eli did not teach God to his sons. These words are equivalent to saying that parents do not teach the Word of God to their children. The reason Hophni and Phinehas became delinquents was because they did not know God. So, the sacrifices they offered to God were formal, and they ate the sacrifices offered to God first, and they harassed the women who served in the temple. Why did the sons of the priests do this? Eli did not teach his children to respect God.
So, how should we teach our children?
Teach them to be reverent, fearful, and guide. We must teach them to be the God of justice, the master of life and death and prosperity. We must teach them that He is the God of good, good and punishment. We need to teach them to be eternal. It is faith in God. You have to instill a heart of trust.
You need to correct your bad habits. In verse 13, Hophni and Phinehas brought the sacrifice they brought to God and ate it first. This is a bad habit and a bad habit. Seeing this, parents should scold and scold them. At the age of 5, we need to teach them to worship and give offerings. It is said that the habit of being three years old goes up to eighty. First, parents should know the importance of worship and set an example for those who worship in front of their children.
“Put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness and holiness of truth” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
We must teach them to fear God.
Eli's sons despised the sacrifice. Not only that, he acted recklessly in his sanctuary. No matter how much the child likes it and wants it, if it is not worthy of a person of faith, sanctions must be imposed. For example, if a child uses something that should be tithing, or if a parent who is supposed to worship on Sunday goes on a picnic, it will be an example of faith in front of the child. You can not.
Raising children is often compared to farming. Farming is one year, but children are the result of a parent's lifetime. Children should live carefully for the honor of their parents. If you look at history, there are many cases of great people failing to raise their children. It was the same with Eli and Samuel in today's text.
David also suffered a lot because of his children. Even today, we can see that the children of ministers and ministers do not believe in Jesus and cause many problems. The reason is that the words of the Bible are not put into practice at home. The Bible tells us to teach our children diligently (Deuteronomy 6:7). It is also said that those who do not dare to reach out hate their children (Proverbs 13:24).
It is important to show faith, not just words. Please listen to the Bible's counsel that church leaders should be “those who rule well in their own houses, bringing their children into subjection with all modesty” (1 Timothy 3:4).
Our members also spend a lot of money on school studies, but they are not very interested in the education of faith. It doesn't matter if your child goes to church, prays, or reads the Bible.
Parents must teach their children to serve God and live by faith (Psalm 50:15). A child who prays never perishes.
