Title He Made for Us / Genesis 1:1
The story behind the watch
Once upon a time, a missionary came to an island village where only Toins live. The missionary stopped by on the way to another country. The people of this island village lived like this, waking up when the sun rises in the morning and sleeping at night when the sun goes down. One day it rained a lot and the sun didn't come up, so all the people in this village slept all day. The Toin of this island village did not know what time was.
The missionary was passing by, but he heard rumors of these people living with no sense of time, so he stopped by the island for a while and left his watch on the beach. After beckoning and beckoning to explain what it was, I got on board in a hurry.
Toin's reaction 1 - idolatry
From the next day, the Toin of this island village began to study this watch.
"What the hell is this?" It was a long needle, a small needle, and... strange letters on it. What's even more interesting is that it automatically makes a sound and moves. I took the watch to an older man in town. The old man looked at the clock and shouted in surprise.
"Children, get down quickly. God has come down from heaven. Bow down quickly before this man gets angry." As soon as these words came out, all the island villagers began to bow down to the clock. They gave a lot of money and decorated the watch with flowers and leaves. Every day, the people of this island village begged the clock to bless us instead of punishing us. A day passed and two days passed, and the clock just ticked and ticked and there was no response.
Toin's Reaction 2 - Development of Science
Said the smartest young man on the island. "This is not a god. It was created by the gathering of soil and wind. So, we can use it for whatever we want." At first, the Toin ignored the young man's words. "What do you mean. This is a god who came down from heaven. If we say that, we will all be punished." But as time went on, the smart youngsters began to change their minds. One day, the clock that was going well stopped. Everyone in the neighborhood was startled and started to pray with the clock in front of them. "Oops, forgive us if we've done anything wrong." But the clock made no sound and stopped.
At that moment, Tottori came up to the watch and wound the mainspring behind it. Then the clock started running again. Everyone was amazed and listened to the young man. "Yeah, it's just the sand and the wind just accidentally created it, just like that idiot said." And then the whole town no longer considered this thing a god.
Toin's Response 3 - Abuse
Toins started thinking again. "Then what the hell is this?" Maybe this is a toy. People rolled it and played with it as a toy. But it was too heavy and not fun to play with. Maybe this is what you wear on your head. Some people wore watches on their heads for a long time. But it was too heavy to wear on my head. Maybe this is just sitting on the floor. People sat on it one by one. It was fine at first, but later on, my buttocks hurt and it was very uncomfortable.
A smart young man said "I think this is the best thing to use when punishing people." People disassembled the watch. I used two needles to grab people I didn't like and poke them. The round number plate was used as a plate to print out who was the culprit when something difficult happened in the village.
Toe-in ignoring the missionary's explanation
A few months later, the missionary returned to the island. The missionary was astonished to see what the villagers on this island were doing. Because we were fighting each other with the clock to tell the time. The missionary said
"It's a clock, and it's like looking at the clock what time it is in the day."
The missionary kindly explained what the clock was, beckoning, but the stubborn Toins did not believe it or understood it. In the end, the Toin had a watch, but did not know what the time was, and they were still living day and night.
people's reactions to the world
There are many people like this Toin in this world. Just like the Toin acted about the watch the missionary gave to them.
When I saw the beautiful sun, moon, and stars that God had made, I bowed down to the people of the past. "Sir, please bless us a lot." Some people worshiped bears and tigers as gods. "Bear, give us plenty of food." Then people got smarter and said that all this happened by chance. Yes, the sun and the moon, the trees and the birds, all the animals are random. So we can do whatever we want. People dumped dirty things into the water, cut down trees, and killed animals at will.
the world God made
But we do know. Who made the sun, moon, stars, trees, and all animals in the world? Ok. All of these things were created by God's Word. And he gave all these things to people. After God created all the world, He created man on the sixth and last day. To give everything in the world. People should always thank God for all these things by looking at the clear sun and the moon, pretty stars and lovely trees and cute animals. And we must cherish, love and protect this nature.
story of rising sun
We have a story like this in our children's textbook.
Have you ever thought that the sun might not rise tomorrow?
"It's just the sun that rises every day, so it will rise today as well." It is not. I would not have been able to see the beautiful and grateful things that wake up in the morning if God had not made them. And if it were not for God, the sun could not rise tomorrow morning like today.
I thank God for giving me a beautiful and bright year today.
After the worship service is over, go out in spring and say a prayer to thank God for the warm spring.
