Title Heart! Be healthy/Ephesians 4:17-24
content heart! Be healthy/Ephesians 4:17-24
Key Verse: “Be renewed in the spirit, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24).
You don't become a new person just because you wear new clothes, but you have to fundamentally change your mind. The Apostle Paul says that a person who has a changed heart is a new person. How can I have a new heart?
First, we must cast away the vanity of our hearts (verse 17). A vain heart is a false heart that is immersed in useless thoughts, a wrong heart, a mind that is away from God and an empty desire without a purpose. If you have such an empty mind, four problems arise. ①The understanding is darkened (verse 18). ② My heart is hardened. ③ You will depart from the life of God. ④ They will throw themselves into debauchery (verse 19). It is dangerous to run through life with an empty heart. Sometimes, when listening to a sermon or singing a hymn, God gives a stop sign in life. When you give this kind of realization, you have to throw away your empty heart. This is wisdom and a healthy mind that leads to a healthy life.
Second, we must throw away the old customs that are decaying (verse 22). When you boldly let go of what you throw away, you start living a new life. Just as you have to get rid of the dirty clothes you are wearing in order to wear new clothes, you have to give up old habits that are rotting to live a new life. Old customs are evil habits that destroy and ruin faith, character, and conscience. There are two kinds of habits. ① It is a good habit. Good habits make good character and make life successful. ② It is a bad habit. Bad habits block our relationship with God and destroy human relationships. Therefore, when you get rid of these bad habits, you can live a healthy life.
Third, we must renew our hearts every day (verses 23-24). Fundamentally, you become a new person when your heart is renewed. So when do you feel refreshed? There are three. ① When we pray, we become renewed. ② When you rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, your heart becomes bold and healthy. It is said that Calvin, who was weak and had no strength, always said, “Spirit, help me, Holy Spirit, help me” whenever he stood at the pulpit. When we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, God provides strength from above. ③It is the blood of Jesus Christ. Wash away your empty heart with the blood of Jesus. And I hope that you will shake off your bad habits and live a healthy life with a healthy heart.
Prayer: God! I wish you to have a healthy heart. Help me to live a healthy life with a healthy heart by throwing away the empty things in my heart, throwing away the decaying old habits, and renewing my heart every day with the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus. Amen
