Title: Knowing and Believing
Bible: Hebrews 11:32-40
Subject : True Faith
Basilisk Lizard
A lizard called a 'basilisk' lives near the Colorado River in Central America. This lizard, about 60 cm long, has a frightening appearance and feeds on insects and plants. When a snake appears, the basilisk quickly flees towards the river. Then, it sprints through the water with its hind legs at full speed. The secret of the basilisk stunt, reminiscent of the miracle of Jesus walking on water, lies in its light weight, excellent agility, and the toes of its flat hind legs and the surface tension of the water. After running about 10cm without falling into the water, if you want to get out of danger, enjoy a leisurely swim and wait until the snake disappears.
The Lord walked more stably on the pitch-black sea than a basilisk splashing through a river.
The disciples, terrified, shouted, “It is a ghost,” and did not believe, but Job called God “the One who treads the waves of the sea.”
When Jesus walked on the sea, he just showed that he was God.
Even today, people with doubts wonder, “How can a person walk on water?”
But he is the Creator. He is the creator of the lizard.
How could God not walk on the sea? How can we only know and understand such a God and not believe in Him? Why are you unable to live your faith because you do not believe?
1. The difference between knowing and believing
- To believe involves knowing and knowing and doing it. Even the demons know that Jesus is the Son of God. But demons do not believe in Jesus.
- Whether or not you pray (at least in appearance) is the difference between distrust of God.
2. To believe in the text
1) The reality of what we hope for - To become what we hope for It becomes what we believe in. When I saw the introduction of a certain book, people said that they can do what they think. I'm just saying that it's not just a thought.
2) Evidence of things not seen
What else can I say? The text proves the evidence that the ancestors lived by faith through dozens of examples.
The world is not worthy of such a person. - It is saying that the ancestors who lived with such faith did not depend on the world's values. It means that he did not doubt the values of the world.
He said that God has prepared better things for those who live by faith.
3. True faith does not stop at knowing; it is walking on water. actually doing it. It is a life of prayer, singing, worship, and evangelism.
4. When we receive grace, distrust disappears. If you have faith, you can move mountains.
I hope that every one of you will participate in the revival meeting to receive grace and achieve the restoration of faith, growth and maturity. I bless you in the name of the Lord to share grace with your neighbors.
