Title Hebrews 12:10 The Secret of Discipline

The Secret of Discipline

“They disciplined us according to their own will, but God for our good share in his holiness” (Hebrews 12:10).

Every child of God must go through a process of trial several times. It is like entering school to learn the educational subject of trials. The Bible teaches that we become stronger through experience. The Bible also teaches us that when God puts us into this school of trial, we should also have joy there. Being trained and sanctified by our Heavenly Father through discipline is one of God's blessings we receive.

Trials in themselves do not bring blessings. Just as watering and cultivating unsowed land is useless, there are children of God who receive no blessings and only suffer trials. They endure for some time, but do not realize the blessings they receive through trials. Moreover, they do not even realize what God is trying to give them through their trials. A good school must have four essential elements. It is a clear goal, a good textbook, a good teacher, and a zealous student.

1. The goal of any training should be clear to you. Holiness is the greatest glory for God and His children. God “purifies us that we may become partakers of God’s holiness for our good”. Christians sometimes want a break during times of trial. Or they may seek stillness and contentment when faced with special discipline. This is just the beginning. What Heavenly Father really wants is something different, something higher. God wants His children to be holy. When Job said, “Praise the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21), this was the beginning of his ordeal. God wanted to teach you more than this. God seeks to link our will with His own holy will. In order to sanctify us, God first fills us with the Holy Spirit. This is God's purpose. This should be your purpose in the School of Trials.

2. In particular, we must read the Word of God diligently during these trials. Please understand what the Bible says God is trying to teach us through our trials and sufferings. God's Word tells you why God gives you trials, how deep is God's love in the midst of it, and how abundant his comfort and promises are. Through trials, we learn anew how glorious God's promises are. When we are in trials, we must return to the Word of God to solve our problems.

3. Let Jesus be your teacher. Jesus Himself was made holy through suffering. Jesus learned perfect obedience through suffering. Jesus has a very merciful heart. I hope you have a lot of fellowship with this Lord. Don't try to find comfort in yourself by talking to others. Please give Jesus a chance to teach you. Please converse and meditate with the Lord in silence. Heavenly Father has given you the Word, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ for your sanctification. So you too must give yourself away for the Lord. Pain and trials bring you to the Word of God and to Jesus Christ. So God makes you a partaker of His own holiness.

4. Be a zealous student. You must admit your own ignorance. Don't assume that you know God's will. Pray and expect the Lord to teach you so that you can learn lessons in the midst of suffering. There is a promise to teach the weak and give wisdom. Open your ears and turn to God with an open heart. Entering you into a school of ordeal

You need to know that it is God the Father who makes you.
