Title Hebrews 5:1-14
Contents Main text: Hebrews 5:1 - 14
*** The perfect high priest (verses 1-7)
*** The source of eternal salvation (verses 8-10)
How did we hear that the sinless Jesus was perfect? The text says that Jesus' suffering, rather than his moral perfection, perfected his qualifications as a savior. In obedience to the Father's will, Jesus died on the cross to atone for sins. As a result, now we have the way of eternal salvation in Jesus. Although God's high priesthood is glorious, let us not forget that the road to that glory was difficult and difficult. We must not be afraid that we will have to go through many tribulations to enter the kingdom of God. Is the Lord telling me to carry a heavy burden on me now? You will have to obey to be saved.
*** Those who need milk (vv. 11-12)
The Hebrews who read the text had been living a religious life for quite some time, and they should have been teachers for a long time. But they did not even know the basics of the Word of God, which even beginners of other faiths could understand. The writer of the text laments their condition of not eating solid food and feeding only milk like children. Having a hard time understanding the Bible? Do you find it difficult to teach the elderly? Perhaps the reason is not living according to the basic lifestyle and teachings of the saints. Are you doing in-depth regular Bible study outside of your time of devotion? Are there any gatherings for discipleship training? Relearn from the basics of the Word!
*** A solid plant belongs to the mature (verses 13-14)
Children of faith live on milk, but sincere saints eat solid plants. He can understand God's Word more deeply and know how to distinguish good from evil. How is this possible? It is possible when you constantly train yourself in the community. Just as you cannot become a great athlete without good training, a saint cannot become an influential saint without the help and hard work of others. You must also train yourself by relying on the Word to reach maturity with discernment. Do you know why the saints are drawn into a worldly life? It is because they stopped applying the Word over the problems they encounter in their daily lives. Such a person mindlessly takes whatever he sees on television, unaware that the spiritual discernment of the saints is undermined. How does the Bible teach the fate of those who do not believe in Christ? What are you talking about about injustice and the poor? What about marriage, sex and abortion? Constantly arm yourself with the Word of God.
