Title Hebrews 05:14 Discernment of Spirits
Contents
discernment of spirits
“Solid food belongs to the mature, for by using their senses they discern evil” (Hebrews 5:14).
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).
It's a blurry world. The whole world is gray. Everything is gray, not sure what it looks like and what it is. Not sure what's right and what's wrong. Black and white are indistinguishable. The concepts of normal and abnormal are blurred, and the concepts of right and wrong, good and evil, and their appearance are confused. It is a world where the boundaries between truth and untruth, honesty and lies, and the gospel and non-gospel, and their colors are not clear. People are in this chaos.
This is because of Satan's schemes using atheism, existentialism, nihilism, situational ethics, monarchism, hedonism, quantityism, miracleism, monotheism, individualism, and the New Age movement.
This was a few years ago when I was in America.
Of course, I do not know whether homosexuals or supporters of homosexuality were mainly present at the talk show audience that day. But I can't tell you how surprised I was to see it. Is this the present state of America, built on the beliefs of the Puritans, the so-called Christian nation? It was a sad event in which who was right and who was wrong, on the contrary, what was wrong and what was evil turned out to be right and good.
The so-called new generation of singers, who wear bizarre clothes, wear bizarre hairdos, wear jewelry and sing with bizarre voices, are being seen as heroes by the new generation and even the grown-ups. Civil servants or politicians who have been rejected due to negligence rather rule over civil servants or politicians who have consistently led a life of poverty, and on the contrary, people envy them from the heart and encourage (?) do.
Let's look at what the Bible says about discernment.
"The natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, which to them are foolishness. And they do not understand, for they understand these things only spiritually. The spiritual person judges all things, but he himself cannot judge anyone. do not accept it” (1 Corinthians 2:14,15).
The word “feces” is found in 2:14 above, and the word “judgment” is found in verse 15. Both of these words are "anakrino" in the New Testament text. The meaning of this word is "separate," "divide," "judgment," "investigate," "scrutinize," "examine value."
These are the words of Jesus.
“If the sky is red and cloudy in the morning, they say it will be a bad day today. Do you know how to discern heaven and earth, but cannot discern the signs of the times?” (Matthew 16:3)
The Greek word for “discerning” in this verse is “diskrino”. It means "to separate" or "to separate".
The Apostles Paul and John also gave several words about discernment in the Holy Spirit.
“Test what pleases the Lord” (Ephesians 5:10).
“Therefore, these people are put to the test first, and after that, if there is no reproach, they are placed in the office of deacons” (1 Timothy 3:10).
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1).
“In everything count, take the good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
In these verses we encounter the terms "test" and "count." These two terms correspond to the Greek word "dokimazo." It means "to test" (to test whether a metal is pure or not)
In Hebrews 5:14's text, "Solid food belongs to those who are mature, and they are trained to discern good and evil by using their senses." "Diacrino", as we have already seen, means "totally separate" or "to separate".
As the Bible asks, we must "discern". Why "discern"? In order not to be deceived. It's to protect your soul. To go on the right path. To completely guide other souls on the right path. If you don't "discern" properly, you won't be able to do these precious things. Seeing a serious spiritual loss, I ruin myself and others.
Jesus gave a very important lesson in a parable, saying, "If a blind guides a blind man, both fall into a pit." Where in the world is there such a strange and ridiculous thing to do?
The blind guide the blind? I've never seen anything like this. The people who lead the blind are not blind, but they are virtuous people who can see and discern everything clearly.
However, in the world of the soul, there are many incomprehensible and absurd images of the blind leading the blind. Their physical eyes were opened, but they were spiritually blind, so they changed “truth and untruth”, “gospel and non-gospel” to “God’s will and Satan’s will”, “church and world” to “true and false”, to “sheep and non-gospel”. There are many people who cannot discern wolves, but do not even know they are blind, shouting “I see” and lead other spiritually blind souls.
In 1 John 4:1, "many false prophets" are these, and Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, 5, "Be careful that no one deceives you, for many will come in my name. When he said, "I am the Christ, and I will deceive many", these are the blind who lead the blind.
This age is a scary age from a spiritual point of view. Jesus already knew this and prophesied:
“False Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, if possible, to deceive the elect” (Matthew 24:23).
You have to be mindful and discerning. You must discern what is right, and you must discern what is good. We must discern whether the spirits belong to God. Those who call only the name of Jesus, Lord, Lord, and only the name of God, call on God God, those spirits are of Jesus and do not belong to God. The beginning, the process, and the end, that is, the fruit must be the fruit of Jesus, the fruit of God.
Please think carefully about the meaning of Jesus' warnings when he said, "I will show you great signs and wonders, if possible, to deceive even the elect." People often confuse "discerning" and "criticism". If you point out something spiritually wrong, it is why you criticize when Jesus said not to criticize. That's right. Jesus said not to judge. But Jesus said to be discerning. So we should not criticize, but we should be discerning.
Criticism is the act of making up lies or exaggerating the intention of destroying, separating, or destroying an innocent person, a person who has made a slight mistake, or a person who has repented. But discernment is discriminating and revealing the false for the benefit of myself, my family, my brothers and sisters of faith, or the soul and life of the nation.
Criticism has a destructive purpose for soul and character, while discernment has a purpose to build soul and character and his life. Therefore, Jesus gave the words of discernment about the antichrists, and the final antichrist and the last false prophet. People are generally good at discerning things related to the flesh, even if they should not. When buying a house, clothing, furniture, car, or groceries, gather information about whether the items are in good condition, whether they will cost you nothing, whether they are sturdy, fresh and not ivory, or whether they are worthy of praise to the best of his knowledge, to look here, to look, to scrutinize, and then to buy.
He is a wise man. But people are weird. A person who has been so smart and wise when buying things is not so spiritually. A person who was meticulous and stingy in order not to lose even a single penny when buying things cannot be so troubled in the spiritual aspect. Without knowing or seeing properly, they simply surrender their soul and heart to a false spirit. This is the greatest real demand, the greatest misfortune. have to discern
