Title I Called Bezalel by Name/Exodus 31
1 "I called Bezalel by name" (1-11)
God calls His servants by name. Even if they do not belong to the tribe of Levi, even if they belong to a tribe that is poor and poor, such as the tribe of Judah or Dan, He calls them by name. It's sad and thankful. And He fills you with the Spirit of God and fills you with wisdom and understanding. This is because the work of God cannot be done by human thoughts or strength. The New Testament deacons were also “full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom” (Acts 6:3). Wisdom refers to the attitude of the heart that fears God and values people. It is foolishness to disrespect God and people while showing off one's self.
He made me study clever work "with various talents". He also makes use of the talents given to him naturally. Workers who are called of God must use all the talents they are endowed with for the work of God. “to do many things” (5). There are many things to do in the tabernacle. There are many things to do in church. It is more precious to serve and serve as a gatekeeper without a name than to govern and teach. “I will give wisdom to those who have a wise heart” (6). It is God who gives wisdom (James 1:5), but God also gives more wisdom to those who are inherently wise.
2. "Keep My Sabbaths" (12-18)
He was instructing the work of the tabernacle service, but suddenly he commanded us to keep the Sabbath. It seems unnatural, out of order. But no. The purpose of building the tabernacle, setting up priests, and setting up workers was to make the Israelites keep the Sabbath day holy (Exodus 20:8) and worship God. Of course, he did not say to offer sacrifices only on the Sabbath, but he said to offer sacrifices every morning and evening, and also at the beginning of the month. However, the Sabbath is a special day for worship. This day is God's day. “The seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God” (Exodus 20:10). To keep holy means to set the day apart and use it for God's sake. Of course, there is also the meaning of rest, but first of all, the meaning of worship is strong.
“It is a holy day to you, and whoever profane it shall be put to death” (14). “Whoever works on that day will have his life cut off from among his people” (15). “Whoever works on the Sabbath must be put to death” (15). “This is an eternal sign” (17). The Sabbath was not unique to the Old Testament. It is an everlasting covenant and a sign. In the New Testament, it was changed to the Lord's Resurrection Sunday. Those who keep the Sunday holy please God and receive grace and blessings, and those who defile the day deserve death.
