Title I Didn't Know /Genesis 28:16
I believe that the grace of Jesus will overflow abundantly in the families of the faith and in their families. Today, I would like to share grace under the title [I did not know]. In the information age, knowledge is power. We suffer when we do not know. From a historical point of view, the 6.25 Incident occurred because we did not know our enemies. In Japan, industrial spies are sometimes sent to famous American companies to steal information. That's why things come out of Japan first before they come out. Knowledge is power.
Today's text, Genesis 28:16, says, "Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is here, and I did not know it." What did Jacob not know? Jacob did what his mother, Rebekah, told him to do, but he faced difficulties because of that work. As he was chased by his older brother Esau, fear and despair developed in his heart. He ran away and slept on a pillow in the wilderness. Through the circumstances, Jacob saw himself as a failed dead. What did Jacob not know?
1. Jacob did not know that God was living and working. (Genesis 25:21-23, Isaiah 40:27-28, Romans 14:24)
2. Even though Jacob was God's chosen father of faith, he did not know. (Genesis 12:1-2, Genesis 28:13, Acts 7:32)
In Genesis 12:1-2, "Then the LORD said to Abram, "Leave your land, your relatives, and your father's house, and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great. la" is said. We know that only Abraham is the father of faith. But we are all ancestors of God's chosen faith. Jacob did not know this. In the New Testament, Acts 7:32 says, “I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Moses was afraid and did not dare to recognize him. God told Jacob in Genesis 28:13, "And behold, the LORD stood upon it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your descendants." What does this mean? If you came to church first, then you are the ancestors of that family's faith.
3. Jacob did not know that God was with him (Genesis 6:9, Genesis 28:15, Luke 24:13).
4. Jacob did not know that God had made him a source of blessing (Genesis 28:14).
5. Jacob made a vow to the living God (Genesis 28:20-22).
After waking from his dream, Jacob made a vow to the living God. In Genesis 28:20-22, "Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will keep me on this way I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothes to wear, so that I may return to my father's house in peace, then the LORD will be my God." This stone, which I have set up as a pillar, will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will surely give you a tenth."
We also believe that we should meet God and lead a life devoted to God. I believe that we should have a confession like Jacob today.
