Subject: I bring you peace
Text: John 14:27
Those who believe in the Lord have many precious privileges.
When you die after living 70-80 years of life, it is the privilege of being judged for your sins and not going to hell, but getting forgiveness of sins and going to heaven It is also the privilege of living with God's blessings without worrying about what to eat, what to drink, or what to wear on this earth. It is also the privilege of living a short life, free from illness, and living a healthy life. And it is the privilege of living in peace and rest freed from the worries and pains of the heart.
In particular, no matter how much material blessings you receive while believing in Jesus, and no matter how healthy you are physically, you cannot live a happy life as a Christian who believes in the Lord if you do not receive true rest and peace in your heart. Therefore, in today's text, the Lord is saying that He will give us peace of mind. Also, Psalm 29:11 says, "The Lord will bless his people with peace."
Ladies and gentlemen, the God we serve is the God of peace. Jesus, whom we believe in, is also the Prince of Peace.
Therefore, when Jesus was born on this earth, the angels sang, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased" (Luke 2:14). It is said that we have peace through this (Isaiah 53:5), and Colossians 1:20 says, "Peace have been made through the blood of his cross." And the Bible says that the gospel we received from Jesus Christ is the gospel of peace.
In other words, if you believe in God and believe in Jesus, you will surely find peace.
Today's age is materially rich but not mentally rich. In other words, there is no real peace in people's hearts.
Moreover, if you do not enjoy peace of mind even after becoming a Christian, you will lose great privileges and live. In particular, if we come to this foreign land and live without enjoying peace of mind, no matter how good we live in a country, our foreign life will never be successful or happy.
Therefore, in this foreign land, I pray that you and I will overflow with not only health and material blessings, but also peace, the blessing of the heart.
The Bible teaches us many ways of how we believers can find peace. Today, we pray that great peace will overflow to you and me as we look through the Bible on how to find peace.
1. Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
But one day, while reading John 15, I realized the phrase, “I am the vine, and you are the branches.” "Aha, that's right! It's a tree that provides moisture and nutrients, but I'm a branch, so I'm worried about supplying moisture and nutrients for nothing. Lord, I was foolish. ." and prayed earnestly. Then peace came to my heart like a wave.
Folks, there is a truth that everyone knows because it is so simple.
The truth is that praying brings peace. If you do not find peace even after praying, pray earnestly. Peace comes. If peace still does not come, pray a lot of thanksgiving. Eventually, peace will come.
2. Isaiah 26:3
"The Lord will keep the steadfast in his heart in peace, for he trusts in you."
A little boy was walking down the street with his father.
The little boy jumps with joy and runs ahead of his father. But a large dog appears in front of him and growls. The child is afraid of the dog, so he turns back and runs to his father. And holding my father's hand tightly, I am no longer afraid or trembling. Rather, they enjoy peace while looking at the dog. Because the boy held his father's hand tightly.
Ladies and gentlemen, when anxiety approaches, we pray to change the environment that makes us anxious or to get rid of the person who makes us anxious. But the peace of us Christians does not depend on circumstances or people. No matter how difficult the circumstances, if you hold on to Heavenly Father's hand and depend on God, you can find peace today.
3. Romans 8:6
"The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is peace."
In other words, if you think about the flesh, you will become anxious, and if you think about the Spirit, you will find peace.
Guys, think about it. Will the thugs who are thinking of killing others have peace of mind? Would a deceiver who thinks to deceive others have peace of mind? Or would the mind of a thief or robber who is thinking of stealing someone else's belongings be at peace? Of course, if your conscience is paralyzed, you may be at peace. But it will never be true peace.
There is a proverb like this in Korea. “Those who were beaten are anxious, but those who were beaten can sleep in peace with their legs stretched out.” In other words, the carnal person who fights and quarrels wins and is anxious, but the one who is at peace with the Holy Spirit loses, but in the end it is peace. (Psalm 37:37)
4. Luke 10:5-6
“Whenever you enter any house, first say, ‘Peace be with this house.’ If there is a man to be found peace, your empty peace will rest with him. Otherwise, it will come back to you.”
The Israeli greeting is 'salom'. It means 'Peace'.
The way Koreans greet each other is 'hello', which means they pray for the other person's peace. This is indeed a good biblical greeting.
As Christians, if we pray for the other person's peace, we will be at peace. In particular, if I earnestly pray for peace for someone who makes me anxious, that peace will come back to me and my family will be filled with peace.
There was a small child in a mountain village.
One day, my mother scolded me for not giving me what she wanted. The little boy got angry and climbed the mountain alone and cried. "Hate it, hate it, hate it!" Then, after a while, somewhere, "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!" I heard the word This little boy asked, "Who hates me?" I looked around with amazement, but no one was there.
The child ran to her mother and told the story. Then the mother smiled and said, "Baby, now go there and say, 'I love you, I love you!' shout it out." This little boy goes to the same place and says, "I love you, I love you!" I shouted Then, from somewhere, I heard a voice saying, "I love you, I love you!" It's nothing but an echo.
It's the same place, but when I say "I hate you," that hate comes back to me. But when I say "I love you," that love comes back to me. It's the same. If we pray for peace, that empty peace comes back to me. .
Folks, the Lord speaks to us. “I know that my thoughts toward you are peace, not calamity” (Jeremiah 29:11).
King Hezekiah said: "Behold, it was that he might give me peace" (Isaiah 38:17).
And the Bible says: "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. To peace you were called as one body" (Colossians 3:15).
I pray that you will have enough of the peace that the Lord gives you in this foreign land and that you will share that peace with everyone.
