Sermons for Preaching

Title I Have Answered You

Luke 4:16-30 I have answered you Topic: 13. Christ 2005. 11. 6.

Introduction

: Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, but that claim was not accepted by the people of his day.

That refusal is vivid.

① Worship of Jesus (16)

② Reading the book of Isaiah (17~19)

③ Jesus’ amazing claims (20-21)

④ Rejection of people (22-23)

⑤ Rejection of grieving people (24-27)

⑥ People's sincerity (29-30)

1. Worship of Jesus (16)

I went to the synagogue to worship on the Sabbath. (Sabbath worship is the Lord's custom)

Jesus was faithful to worshiping God and faithful to the church.

It was the synagogue that I always went to when I was a child.

There was no preacher in the small town synagogue (Matthew 4:23).

They had heard of Jesus, and asked to read and preach on the Sabbath.

2. Reading the book of Isaiah (17-19)

Pay attention to the six facts of this prophecy (Isaiah 61:1~2)

One). Jesus began to read the Bible out of respect for it (16).

2). The Messiah was anointed with the Holy Spirit. (18) (Compare: Luke 3:21-22)

3). Messiah proclaimed the gospel

He preached “the poor” (spiritual, Matthew 5:3) and “freedom to the captives” (redemption, Ephesians 1:7).

4). He did the work of the Messiah.

Jesus (1) heals the brokenhearted, (2) gives sight to the blind

③ He gave freedom to the oppressed. (Physical, mental, emotional, psychological, spiritual)

5). “Year of grace” means the age, time, or day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

It means the time of the coming of the Messiah.

6). After reading Isaiah 61:1~2, why did you stop in the middle of verse 2?

The next part is about the Last Judgment, because it is not the present work.

“Preach the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn” (61:2).

3. Jesus' Amazing Claims (20-21)

“This writing has been fulfilled in your ears today”

“Sit” is a preaching posture, and everyone pays attention to the meaning

Focused, stared, enchanted. (Looks intently in disbelief)

“Today” people thought that the coming of the Messiah was very future, and Jesus declared that He was the Messiah.

(The Messiah was at that time, and Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus.)

(Matthew 16:15-17, 26:63-64, Luke 24:25-26, John 4:25-26...)

4. Reactions of those who refuse (22-23)

One). “I marveled at it,” was moved.

They took pride in having one of their neighbors so capable.

2). “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?” They began to doubt (Matthew 13:55~57).

“Matt. 13:55-56, and they rejected Jesus” (Mt 13:57), and they overthrew Him.

I could not even imagine that he, whom I had known since childhood, was the Messiah, the Son of God.

3). They demanded evidence (this was their idea: they were still sitting).

He claimed to prove himself by causing a miracle among them. (Their thoughts)

Jesus, knowing their thoughts, stopped talking and said, “You must say, “Heal you, physician…. Do it here as well.”

Key point: People's reactions to Jesus' claims started from being impressed and got worse and worse, and they resisted.

It is said that this was to the point of asking for evidence.. (John 4:48, 1 Corinthians 1:22-23)

5. Rejection of grieving people (24-27)

Jesus continued to speak with direct expression of His expressions.

But he knew that they would reject Jesus. Therefore, keep telling them your satisfaction

He did not tell them, but warned them.

One). Notice the word hometown, “no prophet is welcome in his hometown.”

All Israel was to think of Jesus as a Nazarene, and the Jewish people would eventually reject Him as the true Messiah.

2). God will reject those who reject the Messiah as the prophet.

① Elijah was sent by a widow because she alone had a heart for God,

because he accepted him.

② In Elisha's day, there was only one person who was cured of leprosy.

Naaman was sent by him because he was the only person who accepted God.
