Title I Want You to Become a Prophet
I want you all to be prophets.
Text/ Numbers 11:4-35
1. Introduction
The writer of Deuteronomy said that the Israelites complained and complained to God and against Moses countless times during the 40 years of their exodus from Egypt, but the worst of them was the grievance against Taverah, Massah, and Gibroth Hattawa (Deuteronomy 9). :22). Today's text is a record of what happened at Gibroth Hatdawa.
2. The full story of what happened at Gibroth Hatdawa
According to Exodus, it is recorded that the Israelites ate manna and quail when they reached the wilderness of Sin on the fifteenth day of February in the first year of the Exodus (Exodus 16:1-36). They ate from the Wilderness of Sin, but it is recorded that the quail began on the 20th day of the second month of the 2nd year of the Exodus from the Wilderness of Sinai to Kibroth Hattawa (Numbers 10:11-12, Numbers 11:31). However, the reason for eating quail is the Gibroth Hatdawa incident.
Numbers 11:4-9. In response to the greed of the people living in Israel, the whole people of Israel shouted, “Moses, give me meat! ” said.
Numbers 11:11-15. How did you get meat in the empty wilderness? Asking for meat is absurd. This fact is well known to the people. However, once hatched, nothing can stop the psychology of the crowd that lost their reason. Moses was facing the destruction of the Israeli community. Realizing that human strength could not do anything, Moses had no choice but to bow down to God.
Numbers 11:16-25. God said, "Although this people's request for Moses is compelled to ask for meat, I will grant the people's wishes, and Moses will not carry the heavy burden of guiding the people on his own." Then he took the 70 elders of Israel into the tent of meeting The Spirit of God, which was poured out on Moses, was also poured on the 70 elders. Prophecy is evidence that the Spirit of God has come.
Numbers 11:26-30. epilogue. Among the 70 elders, two elders named Eldad and Medad did not attend the tent of meeting, but the Spirit of God came and prophesied to them. do you envy? May the Lord give his god to all the people, that they may all be prophets.” Oh, this is the greatness of Moses.
3. I want all members of the community to become prophets.
first. The leader of the community says, “Give me meat!” in the empty field, as all the communities in this world (national, church, family, various gatherings, groups, etc.) are hatched by the greed of the evil crowd! You have to keep in mind that there are times when you use a nonsensical coercion.
What to do with a community member who refuses to say any wise words from the community leader and acts recklessly There are no other cemeteries. Like Moses, we have no choice but to kneel down before God and pray.
second. The leader of the community should not try to solve the problem alone by any means. It is arrogance, self-righteousness, and foolishness. Therefore, God told Moses to gather 70 elders and poured out the Spirit of God.
Mencius said, “I have heard that he killed the filial father 紂 (the vicious king of the Zhou-Yin dynasty), but he had not heard of the murder of the king.” I did. In other words, the world is a world of people and cannot be the world of any one person (天下天下之天下不可一人之天下).
third. Moses said that all the people of Israel wanted to be prophets. Moses wanted a community where each and every member of the Israeli community had the same character as the leader, and there was no one above and no one below.
雁過高空 (Ophthalmology Janggong: Geese flew in the wide blue sky)
影沈寒水 (The shadow of a geese is cast on the cold water)
雁無遺踪意 (choreography yujong: geese have no intention of leaving their shadows on the water)
水無沈影心 (I have no intention of keeping the water or the shadow of the geese at all)
What does it mean?
Community leaders exercised charismatic leadership like Moses, gentle leadership like John, and forced leadership like Nehemiah in each era to solve community problems. Neither is always right. It was only right in that time, in that situation, in that case.
Nevertheless, some community leaders try to leave a shadow of their leadership, and some communities do not forget the specific leadership that has already passed and say that the time was good. All of these are stupid things to do. Goose should not try to cast their own shadow, and give up the mind to keep the water also in the shadow of the geese. It means that the community and the leader of the community should be such a relationship.
