Title If the Lord Wills / Matthew 8:1~4

Content If the Lord wills / Matthew 8:1~4

In today's text, a leper appeared before the Lord and fell at his feet. The leper, who is lying on the ground in front of a large crowd, is humble and pitiful. At this time, as we discover how such a leper fulfilled his wish through the text, we earnestly hope that we too will experience such wonderful miracles.

First, the confession “if the Lord wills” is believing in the power of the Lord. At that time, the leper was a poor man who had to suffer indescribably both physically and mentally. It was a life risking adventure for him to appear before the Lord with a multitude of people. He had been living a hopeless life, waiting for the day of his death, until he heard the word of the Lord. Then, the news about Jesus gave him a powerful dream of restoration.

Second, the confession “if the Lord wills” is believing in the Lord's sovereignty. The Lord will heal you if you want, but even if you do not heal him, he says that he does not have the right to complain. Even if he does not heal him, he is humble and believes that the Lord is the Son of God.

Third, the confession “if the Lord wills” is the prayer of those who have a earnest desire for the Lord. We saints are not people who live by destiny. A person of prayer who can change fate. The problem is that our earnest desire and our cry must move the Lord's heart to want the Lord to bless us.

Fourth, the Lord, who heard the confession, “If you wish,” touched the leper's body. In the Law, there is a provision that prevents contact with lepers. But the Lord loved the broken soul that fell at the feet of Jesus. And you caressed that body. I am moved when I imagine this moving scene.

I want to believe this. I believe that the reason he touched the leper was an expression of the Lord's love that touched a lonely and poor soul whom no one could touch and who no one could touch. Are there any saints with a broken heart? May you fall at your feet like this leper. We trust that the Lord will caress and restores our broken souls and weary bodies with His precious hands. What kind of hand is the Lord's hand? It is the bleeding hand that was crucified for us. He believes that only the precious blood flowing from his hand has power.
