Title Illusion (misunderstanding)/1 Samuel 1:13-15

Contents

each (misunderstanding)

1 Samuel 1:13-15

"Hannah spoke to herself, but only her lips moved, but no voice, so Eli thought he was drunk. Eli said to him, "How long will you be drunk? Stop the wine." Hannah answered and said, "No, my lord." I am a woman of sorrow; I have not drank wine or strong drink, but I have poured out my heart before the LORD.”

A woman arrived at the train station and bought a magazine book and a bag of cookies. I was sitting in the waiting room, and a man was sitting next to me. After that, isn't that what you're tearing out of the candy bag you put next to you? I was surprised, but pretended not to know, picked up a cookie and put it in my mouth. Because he thought that if he did, the man would notice and walk away. But he ate the cookie again without saying a word. The woman continued to eat the cookies, one by one, without saying a word. The man also ate the cookies one by one without saying a word. All of a sudden, there was only one cookie left. The man cut the last cookie in half, gave one to the woman, and ate the rest. Then I shook my hands and got up.

‘How in the world there are strong hearts like that!’

Even on the train, I remembered the man's impudent appearance, which made me feel bad. Finally the train departed. The moment you open the bag to take out the tissue, ah! Isn't there a candy bag in the woman's bag? The brazen man was himself. Am I not being deceived by my brazenness?

In the text, the priest Eli sees Hannah praying in the fullness of the Holy Spirit and mistakenly thinks that he is drunk (misunderstanding). And according to the Bible, Joshua truly misunderstood the deceptions of the Gibeon residents (Joshua 9:14,15), the disciples misunderstood Jesus’ teaching (Matt 20:21-23), and Peter also misunderstood the truth of the gospel.( Gal 2:11-14)

People often misunderstand and misunderstand others because they think they are self-centered. Let's examine ourselves through some examples and facts about myths and misconceptions.

1. A Pastor's Misunderstanding

2. The illusion of two medical students

In one medical school, there were two students who said they were the best. One day, two students were walking down the hallways of the hospital when I saw a man walking with a very painful expression on his back and stumbling.

One student said. “Obviously rheumatoid arthritis.” Then another student shook his head and said, “Hey, that must be a disc.” Then the two of them were arguing with each other about whether they were right. Then the man came closer and asked with great difficulty. "that… anger… Makeup… Where is the thread?”

Human experience and knowledge are limited. Therefore, we must be humble. You must depend on God. Don't lock God into my frame. Don't lock God in my experience. Do not lock God in my knowledge. Just as parents laugh at their children's behavior, God smiles at me.

3. The foolish donkey's illusion

According to Aesop's fables, in a certain Buddhist country, a horseman passed a village with the Buddha on the back of a donkey to move a stone Buddha. Passers-by see the stone Buddha on the back of a donkey, bow their heads, and give praise. But this foolish donkey thought to himself that there was no way he could worship and bow down to the silent stone on his back, but he mistakenly believes that he is doing it to himself, and walks with crooked pride. Then, the driver didn't like the donkey's attitude, so when he beat the donkey with a whip, the donkey jumped in surprise, and a stone Buddha on its back fell to the ground, breaking the donkey's leg and eventually throwing it away.

There are foolish donkey-like priests who mistakenly believe that bowing down to a stone Buddha is doing them to themselves.

"Grandma, today's sermon seems to have been really meant for you. But what kind of words touched you so much?" Grandma cried and answered with puffy eyes

"I don't know what you're saying. Pastor. A few days ago, the goat I had been raising for a long time died. When I saw the pastor's beard, I kept thinking of that goat... Stop heuk heuk heuk...

Some of the clergy do not know their fraction, who mistakenly believes that the devotion and glory that church members give to God when they look to God is because they are good and because they are good at preaching. All people are sinners and weak before God. Let's not take away the glory we give to God, but have the wisdom to look after ourselves.

4. Illusion of a Traveler in the Desert

A traveler was traveling through the desert. Drinking water ran out and we had to reach an oasis or a village. He became increasingly anxious. He was thirsty and wandered through the desert mindlessly. The traveler was overjoyed when he suddenly found a single step ahead. "You are alive now. If you follow these footsteps, there will be a village." The stranger followed the footsteps for a long time. But there were no oasis or village. He suddenly became frightened. Until now, he was hovering in place, following in his footsteps. Illusion can even lead to death. Are you not living in the following illusion now?

5. The foolish ostrich illusion (misunderstanding)

The ostrich, the largest bird alive today, is about 2-2.5 m tall and weighs 130-140 kg. But there are times when this colossal bird does some really ridiculous things. It means that even if you run away from the enemy that is chasing you, when you come across a sandy beach, your head is stuck. The foolish ostrich buryes only its head in the sand, thinking that its large body is completely covered. But ostriches aren't the only ones making this stupid mistake. Too often we make this mistake. Even though God is observing everything, he thinks that his secret sins will never be revealed unless others see it (Job 34:21-22, Proverbs 14:16, Psalm 14:1). It is an act that does not acknowledge the existence of God. By the way, aren't you also making this kind of illusion these days?

6. Misunderstanding of an old woman in a military truck

It happened during the 6.25 turmoil. One day on a sunny rural market day, an old woman was walking with a heavy long distance on her head and sweating profusely. Just then, an American soldier driving a military truck with a Korean soldier in the seat next to him invited the old woman to get into the back of the truck. With great gratitude, Auntie got into the truck and the truck rattled and started running down the country road. After running for a while, a Korean soldier sitting next to me turned around. But what is this? Aren't you standing with a heavy load on your head, sweating profusely not to fall? Are you not like this foolish old lady? Do you not go to church with the burden of your sins on your back and cry for forgiveness for your sins? Jesus has already paid the price for your sins and gave you eternal life, but if you do not know this fact and cause your own destruction, you are responsible for it. Do not misunderstand that there is a way to salvation and happiness in anything else, and open your heart wide to Jesus right now! And I hope you will understand immediately what the will of the Lord is. (Romans 12:2, Psalm 40:8)

"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image... You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them" (Exodus 20:3-5).
