Whom should I imitate, whether at school, at work, or wherever I go? The Apostle Paul in the text exhorts you to follow me as an example and lead a life of faith, just as I became an imitator of Christ. The true meaning of those words is not that the Apostle Paul tells us to imitate ourselves because his life is an example for everyone, but it means that we strive to imitate Christ just as he struggled to imitate Jesus. Even in the New Testament alone, there are many places where it is said to imitate. (1 Corinthians 4:16, Phil 3:17, 1 Thessalonians 1:6, 2 Thessalonians 3:7-9)
Imitating Christ is for the glory of God and for the benefit of men.
In fact, the two main principles of the Christian life principle are that it is for the glory of God and for the benefit of man. The Apostle Paul speaks of Christ giving up His throne and becoming incarnate for the glory of God. “Eating or drinking” means that no matter how hungry or fond of food, it cannot be eaten if it is sacrificed to idols or does not benefit people.
To imitate Christ is not to be a stumbling block
The stumbling block means becoming a stone of stumbling and making others fall. A person who gives others an opportunity to sin, and a person who puts others into temptation. It refers to those who have not yet accepted Jesus among the Jews. Among the Gentiles, these are people who live without knowing God. It refers to people who are still weak in faith in the church and can give up their faith and leave.
To imitate Christ is to live a life that brings joy to others.
Christians should live a life that imitates Christ, who is the source of joy. This joy has two meanings. One is to introduce and deliver Jesus Himself, who is the joy and source of joy. The second is to try to bring joy to all people, that is, to promote convenience.
In conclusion, the life of a believer who imitates Christ is to have good priorities.
Just as everything has priorities, the saints clearly have priorities. It means to think about the glory of God first. It does not become a stone of roughness anywhere. It is putting others first. It is a life that puts the interests of many people and the salvation of souls first rather than my own. Rather than laughing, I live a life that pleases God and brings joy to many people because of me. Therefore, all of our lives will be enriched.
