Ephesians 3:14-21 To all fullness. Be Full Topic: 45. Blessing 2006. 1. 1

Introduction: Paul's great prayer for the church and believers.

It is the next most important prayer after the prayer the Lord taught (Matthew 6:9~13).

The focus of prayer is on those who have matured in faith in Christ.

1. Background: Prayer (14~15)

One). “Therefore,” this prayer was for a specific purpose.

What God has done through Christ

① He accomplished salvation. (Ephesians 2:1~10) ② He gave birth to the body of believers (the church). (Ephesians 2:11ff)

2). “Every tribe in heaven and on earth” is praying to the Father of all believers, who have believed and relied on God’s promises, now and in the future.

3). “Father” God is called the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God is not far away, but near, and he cares about people and the world (John 3:16).

The main point: I am praying to the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the living and true God, not to the ceiling or the air, or to any thought or object.

4). “Kneeling down” This is ① Total trust in God. ② Sincerity. ③ Worship. ④ Show humility.

2. supplication: prayer content (16~19)

One). Strengthening the inner man with power by the power of God (16)

This supplication seeks the power and strength of the Spirit of God, and seeks the presence and power in our lives.

① “strengthen” means to have the strength to act, persevere and resist.

② “Ability” means power or strong driving force.

③ The “inner man” needs to be strengthened with power.

: The innermost being of man, that is, the part of the soul renewed by God (conscience, true self)

: To be all that God wants of him, to do all that he wants.

④ The source of victory and power: It is the Holy Spirit of God.

⑤ He will hear and answer our prayers “according to the riches of his glory” (in Jesus Christ).

(Ephesians 2:4-10, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Ephesians 1:9, 3:20, Col 1:11, Hebrews 11:33, Isaiah 40:31, 41:10)

2). so that by faith Christ may dwell in their hearts (17)

“Residence” means “permanent residence” not temporary residence to settle down, to stay at home

Christ has already entered their hearts and lives. Therefore, human supplication is

① To pray that we will never forget that Christ lives and lives in the hearts of those who believe forever.

② Asking to be conscious, aware, and know that Christ dwells in the heart of the believer.

③ Pray that Christ will be in your heart and that you will be in constant control of your life.

Because Christ is present in the heart of the believer, we have a heart to be different from Christ.
