Title In Shiloh (Joshua 18:1-4)
Content: Everyone has a selfish desire to be better than others.
Therefore, it is a reality that large and small problems are bound to arise where such humans gather, but the bigger problem is that they do not try to solve them with faith in God and trust and love for humans, but create a vicious cycle of antagonism, condemnation, and division. is.
In such a case, we analyze the cause of the problem and come up with a religious alternative and reasonable solution to it. It can be an opportunity to unite.
1. In front of the problem.
When the Israelites entered the land of Canaan, they tried an ideal way to figure out God's will by casting lots in order to distribute the land fairly among the tribes, but there were still many problems where selfish humans gathered.
It is clear that God's people can only live by eating and drinking because they have a body, but that is not all. Of course, living by faith does not mean denying eating and drinking, but acknowledging it, but what is more important and should be done first?
Don't forget to do it, first, try to live a spiritual life that seeks his kingdom and his righteousness. Therefore, when we encounter a problem, we need the wisdom to not only look at the problem, but to first examine the vertical relationship with God and the horizontal relationship with our neighbors through the problem.
2. Gather in Shiloh.
Joshua, who was distributing the land to the tribes, realized that there was something more urgent than the distribution of the land before God, and he gathered the people together in Shiloh.
This was to establish a loose spiritual discipline by taking the opportunity to gather in Shiloh to set up God's tent of meeting and to examine the relationship with God while meeting with God had been elusive due to the conquest of Canaan and land distribution. When they gathered in Shiloh, built a tent of meeting, looked back on their faults before God, and awakened spiritually, they realized what was wrong and what should they do first to solve the problem? found out that
3. Draw a picture.
Joshua pointed out to the people gathered at Shiloh what they were doing wrong. The problem is that we are delaying our efforts to conquer lands that have not yet been conquered.
Joshua selected three spies from each tribe to search through the unconquered lands and make a map. This is to distribute the land equitably by lot by lot among the seven tribes who did not receive an inheritance based on it.
In this way, there were some conflicts and complaints in the process of receiving the land of Canaan by the Israelites, but we must learn that they brought good results without side effects when solving the problem religiously. This is the supreme wisdom of God's people.
*Dear brothers and sisters!
Today, why have we lost our gratitude in the sight of the people of Israel before the God who is in our midst? What are you delaying? You should discover the negative and use it as an opportunity to correct it. Just as the Israelites entered the Promised Land and became indolent, we need to know that we can easily fall into self-indulgence and complacency in good circumstances.
We must be content with the present but do not forget the grace of the past, and we must be content with the present but do not give up on our dreams for the future. There is only eternal progress in faith.
Therefore, we need the love and comfort of Christ crucified at every moment, we need the helping grace of the Holy Spirit from above, and in order to receive such grace, we gather again in Shiloh to study the Bible continuously without turning off the spiritual faucet. We must pray continuously, and do not delay in continuing evangelism.
(Romans 12:11) "Do not be lazy in diligence, but serve the Lord with zeal."
