Philippians 4:4-9
The key word in today's Word is 'in the Lord'. From Romans to Philemon, the key word in Paul's epistles is this 'in the Lord'. 'In the Lord' (41), 'in Jesus' (35), 'in Christ' (31), this alone is 107 times. You will see that the key word of Paul's theology is 'in the Lord'. 'In the Lord' This phrase has this meaning in the grace of Jesus, in the power that Jesus gives, and by faith in Jesus. Through today's Word, the saints who are refreshed 'in the Lord', 'in Jesus, and by the power of Jesus' congratulations on being
1. Rejoice in the Lord (4-5).
Rejoice always in the Lord, I say again, rejoice.
Let everyone know your generosity, for the Lord is near.
There is not always something to be happy about in life. But in today's Word, the Lord tells us to always rejoice. When you experience it in real life, the feeling of joy comes along with the confession of 'thank you'. As I have always said, joy is like a well of water drawn from the well of gratitude. Therefore, always give thanks for the words to always rejoice. It is the same as saying to give thanks in everything. Joy does not come to those who do not have gratitude. Gratitude is a tool that creates joy. So, always use the law of gratitude. Gratitude overflows to those who are grateful. Another thing to be thankful for happens to those who are grateful. Joy comes to those who give thanks. A grateful person becomes a person with the ability to overcome any problem. This is the principle of grace. Even if there is a little bit of difficulty and suffering in life, it gives joy to those who sing a song of thanks in the midst of it, and the power to overcome those hardships and pains arises in those who rejoice. As Romans 1:17 says that faith leads to faith, thanksgiving leads to thanksgiving, joy leads to joy, and prayer leads to prayer.
Faith is like the filter of a water purifier that positively filters everything in life. A good water purifier converts any water into clean water. This is not because the water purifier does some magic, but because it has a filter that filters out bad things in it.
Even in difficult, difficult and painful times, people of faith can overcome in the Lord. I can't, but I can 'in the Lord'. It's hard, but I can do it 'in the Lord, by the word of the Lord, because of the Lord, by the grace of the Lord'. 'In the Lord' is the filter of faith. This filter of faith allows us to rejoice in any circumstance.
2. Use the power of prayer in the Lord (6-7).
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication
Let your requests be made known to God with thanksgiving.
Then the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 6-7
He tells you not to worry about anything. He tells us to make your requests known to God by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. The word to tell with thanksgiving is to pray in hope.
As I have always said, please do not forget the principle of calling: 'When I call his name, he comes to me.' Therefore, please do not sing the song of worry and worry, but sing the song of thanksgiving and prayer. Life is all about worrying and worrying, but rather, Christians believe that God's grace comes through the power of prayer when they turn to God through prayer and supplication.
Hymn 370 is a favorite hymn not only for me but also for most of us Koreans.
Do I have any other worries in the Lord?
I went to the bottom of the cross and unpacked my luggage
That fear turned into my prayer.
A sigh changed from the previous day and became my song. Hymn 370
It is a confession that, as I came to be in the Lord by faith, my fears turned into prayers, and my sighs turned into hymns. This is the confession of a person who prays in hope. This is what a person in the state looks like. All have difficulties. But now, it is a confession that I am going to the bottom of the cross and freeing my burdens, rather than falling into worries as before.
'Lord, it's hard for me. The Lord doesn't know.
Lord, I'm having a hard time. The Lord doesn't know.
Lord, I'm hurt. May the Lord caress you.
Lord, I don't know what to do. Please teach me the way.'
This is the image of the saints going to the bottom of the cross and unpacking my burdens. Even if difficulties are still continuing, the life of a believer is not to sigh and fall into worries as before, but to entrust it to God while praying and praising.
Dear brothers and sisters, please do not lose heart under any circumstances and use the power of prayer. God has already hidden the power to overcome all problems in prayer. Don't be discouraged if you don't get an answer right away. For those who are in the Lord, God always works together for good. If you pray and wait, I believe that God will surely answer you with the most precious thing at the most appropriate time.
(With thanksgiving ...say ...and) ...will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 7
3. Grow by doing in the Lord (8-9).
Do what you learn from me, receive, hear, and see
Then the God of peace will be with you.
He tells us to do what we learn, receive, and hear. Faith comes to faith through works. Faith without works is dead faith. When we act with faith even in small things, faith becomes experience, and experience becomes power.
How many words do we learn while living in the church? How many stories do you hear? Still, why is my faith not growing well? Because they listen and do not act. You don't grow because you don't do it. So it's always a step back. However, while doing small things, joy arises, self-confidence arises, experience arises, and faith to do greater things arises. So it is growing.
Sometimes when I look at the members of the ultra-conservative denominations, I think that they are too Pharisee. But sometimes, I think that there is a deep meaning of faith in its own way. While maintaining thoroughness in the small things in life, you will gain the strength to thoroughly protect the big things. And even if it is a small thing, the pride in keeping it thoroughly gives you the strength to do something else.
Please take a look at yourself. Is your faith doing what you learn, receive, hear, and see? Have you grown more now than you were 10 years ago? Are you getting more gratitude, more joy, and more powerful prayers? Please do not confuse unchanging faith with unchanging faith. Unchanging faith does not mean unchanging faith in God. There are also beliefs that change backwards. I hope that your faith will change, not change.
It is said that the God of peace is with us when we learn, receive, hear, and do what we have seen. As we act, the Holy Spirit helps. The Holy Spirit also gives strength to those who act. When the Israelites entered the land of Canaan, they crossed the Jordan River. It was flood season and the Jordan River overflowed. When God caused the Jordan River to cross, he did not divide it and cross it, but by faith, obeying the first step in the overflowing Jordan River, when I took my step, he made it part and crossed. Where there are works, the power of the Lord is with them.
Hyo[?, refresh yourself every day. I can't do it, but if I'm in the state, I can. Even if it is difficult, I can handle it in the Lord. Even though I am weak, I find strength in the Lord. Use the law of joy in the Lord, use the power of prayer in the Lord, and be confident in the Lord. Then miracles will appear in your life. You will make a new history.
I bless you as blessed saints who experience new grace every day in the Lord.
