Title Interest is essential. (John 4:1~14)
Contents
To be interested is to be drawn to and to pay attention to something. One of the scariest things in that regard is indifference. Indifference is what people fear more than hate. So what did Jesus do? Although the conclusion is too obvious, the text contains the heart and image of the Lord that we must emulate.
1. Jesus! Let's pay attention to the Samaritan woman.
Usually the Jews hated the Samaritans. But Jesus was interested in this woman. Judging from the context of the text, it seems that Jesus went to Samaria on purpose to meet this woman. is. But today Jesus went to Samaria. And I met this woman today. From the circumstances, it appears that Jesus purposely went to Samaria to meet this woman. Today, this woman was ostracized in the city of Suga, Samaria. Her past and her unclean conduct were gossip by people. The woman did not want to bump into people, so she purposely went out to draw water at noon when no one was around. In today's terms, women were bullied by Sugaseong. But today Jesus took an interest in this woman whom no one cared about. That's right.
Looking at the Bible, Jesus cared about people who no one cared about. And that Jesus is very interested in you today. Everything Jesus did is for you, and the God of heaven is watching you and waiting for you. Most importantly, this concern of Jesus gave this woman strength and hope.
2. Are you interested in people too?
We must remember that individualism is not the heart of God. If Jesus had been an individualist in today's text, he would not have asked for water. So, are you interested in people like Jesus? Are you interested in one church member without going far? Are you interested in those who need to be saved, just as Jesus was interested in women? Of course it's hard for me too, but how can I be interested in others? You can say, don't wait for attention and wait for it, open your eyes and see the people who need your attention. We should be interested because our attention can save them.
3. Talk to the woman of Jesus.
In today's text, Jesus expresses that interest in the way he talks. If you're interested, try talking to them first. Let's say hello or say hello. Let's talk to each other a little. If you don't even say hello, let's say hello. If you're just saying hello, let's say hello. Let's find a hanger somehow, talk to him, and have a warm conversation like Jesus.
And let's find a common topic and start with that topic. In the text, Jesus talks to the woman on the topic of water and goes out to the topic of salvation and the Holy Spirit. When evangelizing, don't blindly evangelize. Let's use Jesus' method. Let's open our hearts to a common theme and move forward to spiritual truth.
I will ask you. God is interested in you. Are you interested in God? Are you interested in church? Are you interested in the people sitting with you? Are you interested in reaching out to those who do not believe in Jesus?
This is why we should care. Not interested is that I have a problem. When we care, we can meet God and also change our neighbors. Let's get some attention.
