Subject: Is it force majeure?
Text: Matthew 19:23-26
It happened when I was in seminary.
I bought a good pair of shoes and felt very good. But I was so happy that there were three or four people together in the elevator, and I was tap dancing in front of them to show them that I bought good shoes.
Then the people in the elevator looked at me strangely, and I said, "Oh my God, as a seminary student, I did something shameful!" and blushed. Of course, when I woke up, it was a dream.
But the next day I put on my new shoes and took the elevator to the church, and I was really tap dancing in front of the people in it like in a dream.
I surprised myself. "No, I feel ashamed after I tap dance in my dreams, and in real life I should never tap dance in an elevator!" I thought, but contrary to my thoughts, are you not doing tap dancing in real life? What the hell is this?
Guys, have you ever had this experience?
Have you ever found yourself acting completely contrary to your will or thoughts and experienced surprise or great regret?
For example, after trying very hard to quit smoking, I finally quit smoking successfully for a month or two. At one point, I saw a cigarette in my hand and said, "This is not it!" And have you not regretted it?
And after trying so hard to quit drinking, I finally quit drinking successfully for a while. I stopped drinking at the moment I didn't know, and the next morning I woke up and said, "Oops, I failed again! Why am I like this?" He said to himself, "I can't believe the existence of a country!" And have you not felt it?
Bad habits that I sometimes think of myself, such as sleeping late and waking up late, habit of keeping the room cluttered, habit of always complaining and resentment, habit of nagging, habit of gossiping, anger easily Habits and bad habits that only you know, you try very hard to break, but when you see an almost irresistible image that doesn't work, you ask yourself, "Is there no way to do this?" And did you not lament?
It was when I was in the military. I made a great decision to quit drinking and smoking, and I put it into practice.
One day, the battalion commander said, "Hey, 2nd company commander, get a drink!" I said, "Chief, I'm taking herbal medicine, so the doctor said I shouldn't drink. Please forgive me." and passed wisely. So I was able to quit drinking, but it was not easy no matter how hard I tried to quit smoking.
At that time, I smoked a lot, so black sputum kept coming out of my throat, and I clenched my teeth and vowed not to smoke. And since the subordinates went on vacation, no matter how good a cigarette they brought, they distributed it to the senior sergeant or platoon commander.
But what is this? While I was in the military, I became very angry and overheated, so I stopped without realizing it, "Hey, senior officer, give me a cigarette!" and put a cigarette in my mouth. Then the senior sergeant smiled and said, "Sir, it's not easy to quit smoking, isn't it?" is to say
I said, "Oh, why am I like this? I should quit smoking..." to the sound, but I ended up continuing to smoke. Seeing the irresistible image of me moving against my thoughts, my will, and my determination, I was like, "Isn't there a good way to quit smoking?" I thought.
However, after being discharged from the army, I went to the Osan-ri Prayer Center and received the Holy Spirit while I was fasting and praying. As the Holy Spirit entered my heart, it was so miraculous that I immediately stopped smoking, which was so difficult to quit.
Guys, isn't the Holy Spirit literally the Holy Spirit? And from then until today, 20 years later, I never smoked. do you believe
When it is not easy for me and many others to quit smoking unhealthy, I teach a very simple method.
none other than "Receive the Holy Spirit." that is. In other words, when you encounter something irresistible that is impossible with human strength, ask God for help.
In Mark 5, we see this event.
When Jesus came to the Gerasean region, a man possessed with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs. No matter how strong he was, he broke the chains and broke the furrows and threw himself into stones day and night among the tombs and in the mountains. was hurting No doctors, no parents, no friends, no relatives, no strong soldiers, no one had the power to control him. As a human being, there was a person who could not stop speaking in today's language of irresistible force majeure.
As Jesus approaches him, the man possessed by the devil speaks. ?쏪esus, Son of the Most High God, what have I to do with you? I pray you, swear before God, and do not trouble me??(Mark 5:7).
Then, when Jesus cast out the demon, nearly two thousand pigs fell into the sea and committed suicide. Then I saw the demon-possessed man, clothed and sober, sitting quietly before Jesus.
Guys, as you go through life, you will come across someone who is absolutely irresistible, that is, someone who is irresistible, that no one can control. Wouldn't it be amazing if such a person was in my family?
But these days, as the end times draw near, there are a lot of people who can't stop. How can humans deal with a husband who can't stop, a wife who can't stop, their children who can't stop them, and those who can't stop them?
In this regard, today's text says: ?쏻ith man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.??(Matthew 19:26)
In other words, when you meet people or things that you cannot handle as a human being, ask God for help.
Guys, take a look at your children these days.
It's a little different from the old days when we were growing up. Among children, there are many children who cannot be stopped even by their parents. Of course, it's because I'm young. And it will get better as you get older and mature. But what would you do at that time if those stubborn faces reappear as adults?
And what would you do if someone who was so irresistible and irresistible was my wife, my husband, my children, and someone who could not be separated from me? As a human being, would you give up on yourself and live with force majeure? Or will you look to God who can solve the irresistible and ask for His help?
In Mark 9, a father comes to Jesus and begs him.
"Lord, my son is possessed by a demon. Wherever the demon seizes me, it will overturn and bubbly and grind its teeth and fly away. The demon often throws me into fire and water to kill me. But if you can do anything, take us away." Have mercy on me and help me.??(Mark 9:17-18)
Then Jesus said. ?쏻hat do you mean if it is possible? Nothing is impossible for those who believe. (Mark 9:23)
Ladies and gentlemen, as the last days come, demons are set up here and there, so there are times when things are strangely twisted in an irresistible form that humans cannot solve. In other words, look to God and solve the irresistible things that humans cannot do by believing in God. At this time, if you mobilize human means and methods, you will fail. I am gripped by an even more desperate feeling of despair. There is only one way, and we must look to God's help to make the impossible possible.
In today's text, Jesus said about the rich man, saying, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24). In other words, having a lot of wealth means that it has made a person irresistible and irresistible.
To such a person, no matter how much his wife says, "Honey, this is my wish, so please go to church." It is said that he is a person who farts even if he begs. However, it is said that God can very easily stop people who can't stop them, even those who are stubborn like that.
So don't be discouraged if you can't do it yourself, don't give up.
I can't, but God can. Moreover, if you live in a foreign land where culture, language, laws and customs are wrong, you will realize your incompetence a lot. And when you live in this foreign land, you are faced with a lot of irresistible events and people that you cannot do on your own.
At this time, we must look to God in order not to fail. You must seek God's help so that you do not despair.
Look at the twelve disciples of Jesus. They are all the people who said they would follow Jesus until death.
But when the situation changed, they all abandoned Jesus and ran away. It was never because he hated Jesus and ran away because he hated Jesus. It was never because Jesus made him feel sorry for him, so he had a grudge against him, denying that he did not know Jesus, and cursed. Because the circumstances at the time made them irresistible.
Everyone, when you encounter an irresistible thing that is impossible because the limit of your faith is only that or your ability to realize and practice it is only that, if you try to solve the problem by force, you will end up in greater despair You fall into it and you become even more miserable.
So, when you encounter difficulties, when you are faced with something irresistible, seek God's help. God has always sent Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help us.
Christians are not people who live by their own strength, but people who live by the strength that God helps. And the God we believe in is a human being who can do all things irresistible. Amen !
