Title Is Honey Water Sweet? / Psalm 119:100-109
Content: Is honey water sweet? / Psalm 119:100-109
A man was riding on a donkey and he happened to see an old man sitting on the side of the road. Although the old man was dressed in shabby clothes, he was a person who showed something extraordinary. But as he passed by, the old man said to the man riding the donkey. “You will die when that donkey farts three times.” At first, it was absurd and funny, but as time went on, I started to worry as I remembered the unusuality of the old man. At that moment, the donkey farted for the first time and made a loud noise. The donkey owner was worried inside, but he just went on the road. But again, this donkey was making excuses.
Worried, the owner got off the donkey and blocked the asshole with a small stone. But again, the donkey was disrespectful by throwing the stone away. It is said that the owner of the donkey blocked the anus of the donkey with a large stone and smiled, saying that it would be all right. The third fart of the donkey pushed the stone away vigorously, and the stone hit the donkey and the owner died instantly. It's funny, but that's how we look. Rather than focusing on what God's Word, which governs our lives, tells us, we are more interested in the words of an old man sitting on the side of the road, such as an old man who makes money, or Jo Ja-ryong, a shaman.
A book called “The Bible Code”, which was popular a few years ago, became a hot topic when it said that if the words of the Bible are arranged in the proper Hebrew alphabet, there are future warnings that God wants to give us. For example, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Rabin, who was assassinated, the assassination of US President Kennedy, the Kobe earthquake in Japan, and the Los Angeles riots in the United States have already been prophesied in the Bible. In this way, the Bible seems to be a very important book for looking into the future. However, the important thing is that the Word of God seems to be getting higher, but in fact, the problem is that we see only the alphabet of each letter as if it were important, rather than looking at the whole of God's Word.
In this way, no matter how many people study the Bible in detail in this way, they will only see the letters, but they will not be able to hear the voice of God who lives and saves mankind and speaks to us through the Bible. How is this possible? The Bible is the best-selling book in the world. It has been translated into many languages around the world and has been sold countless times. However, the Bible is the least read book that sells so much.
Have any of you ever read the Bible from cover to cover? So Satan is taking advantage of this fact. Since people do not read the Bible well, we are taking this opportunity to focus on the Bible only as a prophetic book that foretells the future, not God's word to save mankind. If we continue like this, the sound of the fortune teller Jo Ja-ryong predicting the death of Kim Il-sung and the saying that the fortune teller predicted the death of Kim Seong-jae of Deuce will be the same as the words of the Bible. When this happens, the Bible becomes just a word that you can believe or not believe.
Today's text Psalm 119:100 confesses, "Because I keep Your precepts, my understanding is superior to the old ones." To keep the law means to obey the word. God's wisdom is what God gives to those who do what He says. When you read the Word, you will gain the wisdom to discern spirits. When we read the Word, we understand the will of God. When you read the Word, you can walk with the Lord.
1. The word of God has a sweetness that cannot be compared with honey.
There is a saying that stolen apples taste good. The taste of melons I ate after being scolded for being frostbitten as a child was really sweet. When we talk about the best taste, we say it tastes like honey. But in the Bible, Psalm 119:103 says, “How sweet are your words to me. It is sweeter than honey to my mouth.” The English Bible says, “how sweet are your words to my taste sweeter then honey to my mouth.” Sugar has a ‘sweet suger’, so it tastes two or three times sweeter than honey. Why is your word sweeter than honey? Honey can be sweet for a moment. But it doesn't last forever. When a person with a heart attack is energized, the dead body moves. It may save the body for a while, but it won't save it forever. But because the word of God becomes the word of our life forever.
David was a man who had only the law. The only words of God he spoke were the laws of the Old Testament. I've had Chinese food set before. If you eat a lot from the beginning, you won't be able to eat all the unusual dishes that come up multiple times. If David was the first to lose his mind because the dish was so delicious, we are blessed to taste the whole set meal and savor the taste. There are people who like honey, and there are people who hate it. Chestnut honey is actually honey, but has a bitter taste. If the taste of your word is bitter like this, “May my soul thirst for your word.” And pray. Then, like a person who lost his appetite on a hot summer day when he drinks bitter motherwort water, his appetite will return, so he will be able to find the taste of the Lord's honey again.
2. The word of God is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Last winter, I took a car ride up the coastal road along the east coast from Seoul to Busan and from Busan to Seoraksan Mountain. How could you travel on a road you've never been before? Because this atlas was there. Because I followed the path in this atlas, I was able to go on the right path without leaking sideways. As such, the Bible, the light of God's Word, tells us what God wants us to do as we go through life.
This word of God guides our life to the brightest path. However, the lamp of God's word in the Bible is not a light that illuminates the way ahead. The lamp of God's Word is to illuminate one step ahead that is needed right now. It means to live according to the will of God by obedience step by step. Singer Hee-Jun Choi sings about a life we never know when we are in the dark, “Where did life come from and where does it go?” But the Bible guides our lives with a lamp and with the light of the sun when we are in the dark. That is why Psalm 199:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
My nephew has loved candy and chocolate since childhood. As a result, all of my nephew's teeth are now being tinkered with. Do not crave sweets other than the word. Immerse yourself in the taste of the word, sweeter than honey, which cannot be compared with its sweetness. Then the Word will guide us. When we are afraid to take a step in the dark because we do not know where we should go in life, the Word of God is the light that guides our steps.
Everyone, would you like to live a life of wandering aimlessly and not knowing where you are going without reading the Bible? Let's listen to our bible. And let's shake off the dust accumulated in the Bible and feel the bright light of the Lord. The youth department now wants to start a new Bible study. Our Lord wants you to discover the way of the true truth by reading and studying the Word of the living Lord.
