Subject: You are so beautiful!

Text: Psalm 8:1-9, John 15:7-14

[This is My Father's World!]. It is the season of beautiful songs. I want to express my gratitude, thinking, ‘Who wrote this beautiful song and when?’ It is the Rev. Maltby Davenport Babcock (August 3, 1858   May 18, 1901) who once lived in the global village. You were born in Syracuse, New York, and received a heavenly call from Naples, Italy, during your pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Born into a good family, he has led an extraordinary life since college days and made the people around him happy. It is said that he excelled not only in religious activities, but also in sports, drama, music, and academics. His character and the beauty he radiated in his life came from ‘holy joy’ (John 15:11?). This hymn appears in Thoughts of Everyday Living, published by his wife after her husband's death.

I sang hymn 78, tasted grace, and found words that could be the main text. The Old Testament text (Psalm 8:1-9) came to mind. They sang that God, the Creator and Master of history, is the Father of love. This is David's song of praise. People are at the center of God's love. ‘What is man, that you think of him, and what is the Son of man, that you counsel him? You have made me a little lower than the angels, and crowned me with glory and honor” (verses 4 and 5). Then there is the beauty that comes to mind. “Brothers dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133). There are ‘life between brothers’ recorded in the Bible. There are many examples of what is less beautiful than beauty. These are the stories of Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob, Joseph and his brothers, Judah in the south and Israel in the north. But David's song was different.

Today's New Testament text (John 15:7-14) reemphasizes the 'new commandment' (John 13:34) that the Lord has given us in the words of Darakbang's sermon. This is an emphasis on the theme of the Gospel of John, ‘life’ (John 10:10; 20:31). It is the life that begins here and now, and the life that begins into eternity (Eternal Life). It is the present tense of eternal life. These are the words of the last declaration of the seven declarations. ‘I am the true vine. My father is the farmer” (John 15:1). God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and our life as one become one. Much fruit will be brought forth, to the glory of the Father the Farmer (v. 8). If you meditate on the following words (John 15:9-13), the life force of the Lord overflows and makes you feel others. The poem ‘Love one another!’ makes us know that the word of the Lord is a link that connects eternity.
